sure you didnt go over a bump fast enough to upset the kickstand switch. so im guessing that the bank/tilt switch is faulty.The new battery probably just reset the tilt sensor and thats how you got it

sure you have a good supply of fuel,,pull on the choke to full,use no throttle,if you follow what i have tried to explain and done it all,hit the starter,i bet you it will go,good luck,hope this helps
