I have a 2.5 -8
Dan, your best bet is to buy a set of calipers ($25) or find a friend with one, or take the scope to the shop where you expect to buy the lens covers and have them measure it for you. The butler creek covers come in a easily opened container and most shops will let you check fit in the shop. the 2.5 x 8 x ? does not really help you as the ? is the objective lens diameter. While this is good to know, different scope companies 40mm scopes may take different cover sizes as the tube outside diameter may be different.
Hope this helps
Cannot bring both lenses close enough together to
It's not the fact of the closing of the two tubes towards each other that is your problem, it sounds like they are out of collimation. Take them to a camera store or where you bought them from and ask if they know of a good repair agent. This is beyond the DIY repair.
Broken eyepiece, 1940s vintage 7x50 individual
Here in Melbourne, Australia I make these for people who need them. I also have a reasonable amount of stock generic ones. The question is not so much the size of the ring, but the thread size, the depth of the eyecup (depends upon the magnification) which sets your eye at the correct distance behind the eyepiece (eye relief) and the size of the central hole to suit the size of the eye lens. There would be other small engineering companies that could make one for you out of delrin.
I canot turn the 60MM Bausch and Lomb
I would contact B&L at this web site and seek a warranty repair or advice on the fixing the scope.

Telescope does not focus
Check to see if they have loosened the lens end of the scope. As it screws on, maybe they unscrewed it enough to make it get out of focus range.
