Cannot sight in riflescope for elevation, adjustment is maxed out

Try reversing the rings. Move the back one to the front, and the front one to the back. Turn your elevation adjustment, back to -0-, and start again.

My Weaver Classic riflescope is maxxed out for elevation

I don't think the tube holding the cross hairs will go up that high, and shimming the front base, I don't know. What you need is a new cross hair with the dots below the cross, They will raise your line of sight past the 350 zero. Or,,,,, just put the cross at the top of your target, 600 yards without the right scope is a long shot. I hope you have a heavy barrel target rifle in 308 or bigger. My M42 is unbelievable, but, It will shoot better than me all day long and I rarely go over 200 yards. I tried the 600 yard line once, didn't like it. Oh I could hit the target, but I like hitting doorknobs at 200 yards better. What are you shooting anyway? I hope your not trying to stretch out a 223 to the max.

Exploded diagram

You don't actually adjust cross hairs, you adjust point of impact. You do this using the turrets located near the center of the scope. the top one will adjust height, the r hand one will adjust windage.

Son just bought me a

Simply put, the Mil-Dot is a way to estimate range with the scopes reticle. This type of reticle was developed for military applications. The space between the dot centers is equal to one milliradian (Mil). hence the name mil-dot. One Mil equals 3.6" inches at 100 yards, or 36" at 1,000 yards. To use this system effectively you must know the size of the target. For instance most people are an average of 6 feet tall or 2 yards. The formula used for determining range to the target is (size of target x 1000 divided by number of mils the target covers). Hope this helps FixYa up.

What does setting 3x9x40 mean?

3 x 9 indicates that the minimum magnification is 3 times normal, and the maximum is 9 times normal. The last number (40) indicates a 40mm objective lens (the one furthest away from your eye). This is an indicator of the scopes ability to gather light from the environment. The larger the objective lens, the better it can gather light, and the brighter the view appears.

What are the adjustment knobs on the windage

The adj knobs on there are for windage on the right and elevation on the top, if they are not covered, they are turret knobs for target shooting, not for hunting. The focus knob is the rear lens, it spins in and out to fit your eyesight. It usually focus on the crosshairs and the distance for most shooters, some will not be able to get it right because of their eyes. 98% will. Hope this helps.

My banner scope in 4 to 12 wii not hold zero

I'd start by looking at the mounting bases.
First tighten the scope ring screws to 25 inch pounds, then loosen and remove the rings from the base(s) while still attached to the scope.
Back out the base screws one at a time, apply low strength thread locking compound and tighten each to 25 inch pounds.
Remount the rings/scope to the bases tightening till snug but not overly tight and sight-in the rifle.
Hope this helps, Mark the Gunsmith
