My printer keeps reverting to offline. I have Windows 8
I'd uninstall the printer. Unplug the USB cable to the printer and power down the printer. Reconnect the cable, power up the printer and in control panel/printers "add printer" it should find the printer and install the latest driver.
Why wont printer start up ?
It could be a number of reasons:
1. a simple solution is to initiate what is called, 'power recycling' (although this is assuming that the printer did already work at some prior point); this is where you turn off the printer for about 5 minutes, then turn on, which usually allows the system to reengage itself.
2. did you install the software for the printer? If you did not then your PC might not know the printer is attached. Is the software installed properly?; meaning you must unplug the printer from the PC, then install the software, then connect the printer to the PC after the software is completely installed. If you did it in reverse, then you need to uninstall the software, then start over by doing what I just mentioned.
3. the USB port you have the printer cord inserted into could be bad on your PC.
4. the printer itself has an internal problem and needs to be repaired, or if the warranty is still in place, have it replaced with another new unit.

As soon as the alignment sensor does not work correct, or does get information it does not expect you get an error.
The band whit the very small lines on it, should be clean and in one piece. It is connected to the print head and registers the slightest movement of the head. Check if the band is there and if it looks "new"
