The 30 Amp breaker should be okay for the 5500W water heater. The Rheem Performance Plus 50 gallon water heater, XE50M09EL55U1, requires a 30A breaker for 208V and 240V electrical systems (single or 3 phase wiring). I can't find any information on that MODEL you listed in your question. It's sort of like the Rheem Air Handler models but notthing comes back. In any case you will NEED the SERIAL number, as that will tell you all you need to know about it. If you can't decipher SN, call RHEEM and they can give you the info on that unit. Sorry I could not be of more help.

Check the pilot thermocouple. You may be able to find one at a home center.

Try raising water temp. It may be set to low and you will not get a full 50gallons of hot water.

Just how much did you investigate this on the internet before asking here? I Googled " Rheem C2 tankless water heater" and found http://waterheatertimer.org/Troubleshoot-Rheem-Tankless-water-heater.html. Look under Error Codes. Code 11 refer to gas supply/ignition. If you don't know much about tankles water heaters or gas ignition, call a Rheem Tech.

It was to hot, if it's still hot take a shower to help cool it down faster before you have an accident, cheaper to waste a lil water than pay for a hot water tank or worse, a hole in your house. You said you turned it down, leave it where you have it, if it's cold out or if it's the first shower of the day sometime the water is just colder, but you will notice if you would have gotten a shower and let it warm back up you might have had hotter water, I don't think it would have gotten that hot on one element especially in a hr.

I suggest you check the owner's instruction manual but it would be rare for any water heater to have a facility for reset - if they are ok they heat the water to the preset temperature and maintain that temperature and if they don't it is because there is a fault that, for safety reasons, should be rectified.

Do any other digits appear when you look at the LCD panel? Most Rheem Tankless water heaters will have a two-digit number in addition to the C2 code. For example: C2 11 indicates a failure to light the gas burner (for gas/propane) units. This could be do to a shut-off valve that wasn't completely open. There could also be air in the gas line or insufficient pressure. There might also be a problem with the ignition/wiring. A C2 00 code indicates that the burner was on for more than 60 minutes. For this code, turn off all open hot water faucets, including a dishwasher or clothes washer. Turn off the water heater. Turn off or remove recirculation pumps. Wait an hour for the unit to cool and reset the error code. Try the unit again. Please add a comment with the full error code and the model number of the water heater for additional information. Check water line going to heater for a cut off valve. If there’s not one, have a plumber add one unless you want to cut water off to entire dwelling.
