Rheem, Richmond, Ruud, and Paloma are all the same manufacturer. After about 9 months, my tankless RTG-74PVN started giving me error code 11 and cold water!. I fixed it by cleaning the burner, as shown in this video:www.howtolou.com/clean-a-burner -Lou
the system was not sized properly, you need to have a 3/4 gas line to the unit for the volume of gas it needs, the tankless water heaters need to have every bit of gas that is says, it sounds like who ever installed di not make sure you had enough gas comming in the house, you might have to either have a new meter installed or run the gas lind directly from the meter to the water heater and cap off the gas line thats there
C2 11 is no ignition. Clean combustion parts yearly as recommended in manual is first step. Other causes can be loose wiring, bas gas valve, dirty air intake, bad venting, bad sensors etc. Test these parts using service manual. Call Rheem since Rheem does not post service manuals.
Richland tankless is made by Rheem. C7-76 is communication fault with remote. Turn off power at remote and wait 5 minutes, turn power back on at remote, and see if problem clears. If problem continues, read below:
Tankless water heater, more than any other type of heater, need to be maintained. Maintaining tankless will probably not affect C7 76 fault code, but can prevent many other common error codes. http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Tankless-maintenance.pdf
Error 76 can mean communication failure between tankless and remote control, which can include bad remote control, bad wire, bad wiring connector, or PC board failure. Disconnect remote control and see if tankless will work. http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Rheem-error-code-C7-76.pdf
Error C8 76 can mean PC board failure. Contact Rheem and/or service technician.
Take a moment and rate answer: And take advantage of fixya expert assistance live. For a price, expert works with you while you work on water heater or any do-it-yourself project. Fixya is always less expensive than a service call.
Error codes are considered start point for troubleshooting. Error code 21 is "malfunction of air intake filter switch" Make sure air filter door is properly seated. Make sure front panel is properly installed. http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Tankless-maintenance.pdf
Generally, C7 is communication problem with remote Error codes are considered start point for troubleshoot. Causes can be: Bad remote, bad wire to remote, loose wire connection at remote, loose wire connection at unit, bad PC board. In no particular order: Check wire connections. Disconnect remote and let water heater control temperature at default 120 degrees F, and if no further problem develops, then that might eliminate PC board as source of problem. Replace wire to remote. Replace remote. Call service technician to diagnose problem. Contact Rheem about PC board and other options.
Error codes are considered start-point for troubleshoot. Error code 24 is malfunction of operational switch: press max or min button on PC board to reset, -or- replace PC board. Max-min button is sometimes located above dip switches, and can be 1 button that is rotated with screwdriver or 2 separate buttons. Look at wiring diagram in manual that came with product.
e2 is not shown among common error codes: Error e2 might be: Brownout condition or too low of voltage to thermostat. Double check wiring and check for 24 vac between R and C. E2 will clear 15 sec after proper voltage is restored.
Model number and serial number are required for Rheem contact, and then they tell you what error code means without saying how to fix it, and then tell you to call service technician.
Tankless water heater manuals each say to have qualified technician perform yearly service. Most causes for common error codes are covered by yearly service.
Yearly service is fairly standard in the HVAC and water heater industry with advancement of high-tech 'energy' saving appliances. Of course all costs are energy, and the service call probably costs more that the 'energy' saved by energy-saving appliance. But with high tech stuff like tankless, it is good to have a reliable service guy who knows your machine. http://waterheatertimer.org/images/Tankless-wiring-1200.jpg
Error codes are start points for troubleshooting and can include long list of things including multiple causes. Error code 12 shows 'condensation collar' and 'vent lengths' which are associated with the vent to outdoors. Changes in air pressure during low-pressure rain events MIGHT affect the venting and cause tankless not to ignite, and MIGHT cause excessive condensation. Improper condensation can rust out the heat exchanger without showing any signs of problem until the unit is ruined. C9 is not listed. Contact Rheem, and then add a comment saying what Rheem suggests as solution for C9 error. This will help others in the community with same-similar problem.
Instruction manual recommends yearly maintenance by qualified service technician. This maintenance would usually check all things shown in error 12.
This problem can be caused by plumbing problems such as crossover, or clogged water lines, or dirty water filter, or clogged water softener, or temperature of unit set too high. Or combination of these problems. Remember if temperature is set very high, then more cold water is used at the faucet. This means less hot water is drawn through the tankless water heater, so the flow rate may drop below activation threshold. http://waterheatertimer.org/Crossover.html http://waterheatertimer.org/Low-hot-water-pressure.html
