Panasonic Lumix DMC-G5 Digital Camera Black - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
How do I take a monochrome shot
Checked the manual, but it does not show all scene modes. So I'm not sure it can take monochrome pictures. You should check there.
If you want black and white pictures, I advice to set up the capture mode to RAW and later in PS, light room or elements convert them to B/W (other brands of photo program's will do)
How can I download raw picture in my computer?
The best way to download pictures (RAW, JPEG, or any other format) from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files.
Where are my files (photos and videos) on memory card?
The Video codec used for the Panasonic G5 is AVCHD which is structured very strangely downloading a third party app to Handle them and remove them from SD card is often very helpful. As for photos the file structure should be extremely simple to navigate if you aren't finding your photos with very limited poking around on your SD card there may be something wrong. What I recommend you try is downloading a photo management app like Picasa from google it should fairly simpler help you download all your photos and videos of your SD card if they are still there.

Changing black white color
Answer is in the manual - in case you don't have it please do this:
To change selected picture effects ([Creative Control] menu)Press [MENU/SET]
Use cursor button to select [Creative Control] menu and press [MENU/SET]
Press up/down to select a setting ( there are a few eg. Sepia, Retro, Soft Focus, Expressive, Toy etc, and then press [MENU/SET] ( pressing DISP should give you an explanation of what each item selected does)
Hope this solves your problem.
Cheers
Mike
Flash wont pop out
It won't pop out in certain exposure modes, like manual. Try it on auto. If not, GENTLY try to pry it up - sometimes they get stuck from dirt of being hit.
Why do i get memory card error and format error on my camera
Hi Tami,
Many people experience similar problem but the cause may be different. One of the main cause is an infection by a virus when you connect your camera (SD card) to a computer. All you need to do to find out is - connect the SD card using a card reader to a computer with working virus program and scan it, than try to reformat. If you receive a pop-up message that the card cannot be formatted, you are doomed. Get a replacement card.
DMC TZ6 System Error (FOCUS)
Ty Price - thank you! I bought a DMC FX580 off eBay, untested, for $7 + $3 shipping, just for the heck of it. You never know, it could work, right? So I ordered a battery and charger, popped the fully charged battery in, and found it had the dreaded "System Error (FOCUS)"
I decided to Google the problem, and ended up on fixya. I read your suggestions, followed every one in detail and in order, and finally won the lottery with your last suggestion.
I played with the lens by keeping it from extending, preventing it from retracting, and finessing everything in between. I felt for 'give' and when I felt it, I went with it. Three click/snap events with no result, then on the fourth click/snap... wah-lah! I had the screen back, and all functions now work perfectly.
I'm much more comfortable working with things mechanical than things electronic, so I'm delighted that I was able to use physical manipulation to fix this fancy little camera.
That was so much fun - thank you again!
Lens cover will not open?
Send it to a Panasonic repair center. If it's under warranty still, then it should be covered. If not , they will give you an estimate.
Tz10 lens cover sticking
My TZ10 problem was the opposite, the cover wouldn't open. I just resorted to surgery with needle-nose pliers and a carefully wielded Stanley knife, and removed the cover completely without opening up the camera or the lens assembly. No big deal not having a lens cover, the thing lives in a leather case and it doesn't take a moment to wipe the lens with a tissue if it gets dusty. The camera is 4 years old anyway. Solved by 'amputation'.
