Pramac GBW30P Encl Diesel Genset w/Perkins Eng - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Its 230kvaperkins generator it starts normally, but
Low frequency means the RPM of the motor has fallen off.
Check your fuel is NOT contaminated or fuel filters plugged.
Further tests should focus on the govenor system. Possibly it fails when engine gets hot. the frequency is directly proportional to the engine speed.
The gent set is Perkins 135 KVA after overhauled
Check the fuel solenoid is getting power. It may be locked out by loow lube oil pressure and other things.
ALSO when restarting a diesel one OFTEN must "bleed" the fuel lines at each injector... same as when one inadvertently runs a diesel out of fuel. Crack the connectors at the injectors and crank till fuel comes out and tighten each one. Yes, it is a pain...
Genset does not start ,
what safety caused the alarm.
if you cant restart it, it may be cause the problem that originally shut the engine down has not been
fixed, it could be water level, low oil, high water temp, low fuel, over voltage,
all of the above are probably run through the safeties.
over volt, and water temp would probably clear its self after it sat a while.
try turning off power to panel. for a couple minutes and see if it will reset, if not check water level.
and oil levels
500kva 380 volt diesel generetor
make sure gen isnt stopt on protection
overtemperature or oil level or coolant level.
try to bridge protections one by one to find the course.
first make sure all fluids are on level and coolers are clean.
fanbelt tension and coolantthermostat can also be wrong.
How ican fix the high temprature problem
Water level, good thermostat, good water pump, fan working? All things to check.
Sometimes an airlock will prevent water circulation
ALSO verify your temp gauge and sensor is working correctely. A failure of these may appear as high temp and even shut machine down if the sensor is bad.
We have a Perkins diesel engine in a
The
leakage fault of diesel generator is usually caused by the injection of corrosive coolant or seawater into the water radiator of the diesel engine.
Cause of failure: 1. The cooling water added to the cooling water radiator by operator is seawater, which results in the damage of internal waterway and external interface of diesel engine. Therefore, the use of diesel engines must be strictly in accordance with the provisions of the diesel engine operation. 2, the operator feed water radiator in the addition of strong anti-freeze corrosion, resulting in diesel engine waterway parts damage. Troubleshooting methods:
1.Disassemble damaged parts of diesel engine, replace damaged parts of diesel engine after washing water radiator and inner waterway of block with fresh water.
2, after assembly, adjustment, test machine found that the diesel engine returned to normal, the fault was eliminated.
Stop failure alarm on genset
1: Check if the alarm is stopped, a, low oil pressure b, high water temperature c, overspeed, etc.;
2: Check if it is overloaded, whether the inlet and outlet pipes are unblocked
3: Check if the parts are broken or loose, and check if the fuel tank is short of oil.
4: Check if the fuel injection pump is damaged
5: Check the speed sensor, electronic speed control board, actuator, etc.

Diesel mixed with oil in the sump
You run again the generator but before running, check & mark the oil level. Then stop the generator & wait until the oil settle to the bottom of oil pan. Check the oil level again & if the oil level is higher than the marking before that's means you have an engine gasket leak. You need to replace that gasket.
What can i do to reset generac 0058750 genset under voltage alarm?
Did you have a auto controller?
With the switch set to AUTO, the engine may crank and start at any time without warning. Such automatic starting occurs when utility power source voltage drops below a preset pevent or during the normal exercise cycle. To prevent possible injury that might be caused by such sudden starts, always set the switch to OFF and remove the fuse before work. Ing on or around the generator or transfer
switch.
Where is the rpm sensor on a genset generator
The distance between the sensor and the diesel generator flywheel is too far or too close (generally this distance is approximately 2.5 + 0.3 mm). If the distance is too far, it may not be able to sense the signal. If it is too close, it may damage the working surface of the sensor. Due to the high-
speed operation of the flywheel, radial (or axial) turbulence occurs. The distance is too close to pose a great threat to the safety of the sensor. It has been found that several working faces of the probe have been scratched. According to practical experience, the distance is generally about 2mm, which can be measured with a feeler gauge.
What is the size Battery (cranking amp) needed for
If the unit has a battery box, measure it and get the largest size that will fit and of course the correct voltage. Diesels take a lot to crank.
You can search battery sizes on the internet for physical size. NAPA has a pretty good selection.
How do i align the timing gear on my perkins dk
Timing gears? have you pulled it that far apart? On timing gears there are usually stamped onto the gears a small dot. lign them up. Not sure why tore down so far? If you take off the diesel pump align the timing marks in the small window plate first else you will be in a mess.
ELECTRICITY PRESENTS BUT GENERATOR START IN AUTO MODE
You have the remote control wires incorrectly connected either at the ATS or on the generator control panel, disconenct from both ends and ohm them to make sure they are not shorted between. Then reconnect them at the generator end only. Then join them together manually, of the gen starts and stops when taken apart, the problem is in the transer switch, or incorrect terminated
Perkins 3 cylinder powered pramac generator
Start looking at your safety circuits.
1. High water temp
2. Low Oil
3. Low water etc...
From the manual these are the protection circuits.
• Engine protection: low oil pressure, high engine temperature.
• Genset protection: under/over voltage, overload, battery charger failure, battery voltage out of limits,
under/over frequency, start failure.
• Circuit breaker protection: IV poles.
• Differential protection.
Any one of them will trip the fuel relay closed. What you may be able to do is disconnect one at a time each protection circuit and see when the fuel relay opens. (Make sure to reconnect each one if it had no effect on the fuel solenoid)
Once you isolate which circuit it is in then you can chase wires or change the bad switch.

Boat engine will not start even with new battery.
This may sound over simplified but..... old battery cables corrode onboth ends so you have less amperage carried by the cables. (i.e. fewer strands of copper trying to carry more amperage than they are capable of. The next time you do a start cycle place your hands on the battery terminals one at a time and check to see if they are HOT to the touch. Also do the same thing for the chassis ground and the terminal lug at the starter. ANY hot terminal is a sign the cable has broke down either from age/vibration wear or corrosion. If you suspect the battery cables are bad get a VERY GOOD set of jumper cables (2 sets connected together if necessary) and do a direct from the battery to the starter connection. This is loads of amperage so be very careful and DO NOT do this alone. But, if the starter spins faster you have battery cable problems.
IF you have an external to the starter relay that too can cause the problem due to worn / defective contacts.
I will watch for any responses.
