My KSM150PS stopped working!! HELP!!

Yikes!!!!Can you tell us what you were making last time you used the machine? Do you do pizza and other doughs a lot. The KSM150 is a 325 watt mixer with lots of power so; 1 first lets go back to the outlet and try anything that can show fast results like a hair dryer to test the outlet.2 The cord from the mixer, do you unplug it by pulling on ti? Or do you use the plug itself when unplugging. Do you have and know how to use a volt meter. If yes to both3 Remove the rear cover and you will see a black and copper plate with a whole bunch of connectors on it. the left two bottom black and white terminals are the power for the mixer, turn the mixer on and test the terminals to make sure the machine is getting power, if not replace the power cord. You will have to open the machine and take it apart somewhat to replace the cord. 4 it could be the speed control plate itself (Most likely) there are three screws on the plate in an upside down triangle, turn the one on the bottom left a little bit while the mixer is on if it is the adjusting screws it should start again with less than a half turn. 5 Look at all the terminals to the speed control switch and make sure that they are connected if any one of them has come off then the machine won't work. There can be other problems but this fix is the most common. Let us know if this does not work and we can go into it a little more in depth. If you leave the machine on for a minute or more does it start to smell (burnt smell or hot electric) If you have a warranty (still within the first year of purchase ) get in touch with Kitchenaid they will send a new mixer with out question. If you are out of warranty then we can fix it, one step at a time, or you could take it to an authorized service center, if you live close by to one. Let us know.

Removing motor cover

Just remove all the screws you see on the bottom and front of the mixer. There is also a screw hidden in the neck of the stand.

,first time user and the bowl is stuck in new artisian mixer. what do i do

Apply WD40, with the pinpoint sprayer straw attached, all around base and twist in the proper direction as hard as you can! (We had to wrap the bowl in that shelf liner rubbery mat stuff to get a good hold on the bowl since the handle came right off as we were initially working on the problem!) This worked for us. Hope that after 236 days DMLiss might have found another solution??!!<3+

Vibrates and beater hits bottom of bowl

Try adjusting the height of the head by turning screw #36 counterclockwise a turn or so. This will raise the mixing head so the beaters no longer hit the bottom of the bowl. Refer to parts list:

http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/assets/pdfs/literature/Repair%20Part%20List%20-%208212010.pdf

If the pivot pin #18 is not centered and secured then center the pin and turn the mixer on its side to tighten screw #31 from underneath the mixer to secure the pivot pin.

My KitchenAid mixer will not

You may have to adjust the mixer speeds. Obtain a copy of the KSM150 Repair Part List from Kitchenaid.com. Remove the screw holding the End Cover and locate the three screws from the Control Plate. All three (2 top left and right, and 1 bottom) must all be adjusted. 1. Loosen the lock nuts enough & Turn the 2 top screws clockwise until they cannot be turned
anymore. Leave the bottom screw alone for now.
2. Use a dab of white paint or paper whiteout to mark the positions of the Phillips screws.
3. Plug in your mixer and Set the speed selector to "Stir".
4. Turn each top screw One full turn couterclockwise (alternating between Left and Right)
Keep making one full turn at the time (for both left and right) until the motor starts running.
5. Put your hand near the Agitator shaft and allow it to brush your finger slightly. Use your
watch or clock and start counting the number of times the shaft touches your finger in
60 seconds. The correct count should be 60 RPM (Rounds Per Minute). If it is less
or more than 60, give each screw 1/4 turn counterclockwise or clockwise and start counting
again. Now tighten both lock nuts.
6. Set the speed selector to "6" and turn the bottom screw either clockwise or counterclockwise
to achieve a speed of 180 RPM.

For your reference, the planetary RPM's for the 5-qt. tilt-head Artisan Stand Mixer are as follows:
Stir speed - 60
Speed 2 - 95
Speed 4 - 135
Speed 6 - 180
Speed 8 - 225
Speed 10 - 2

The slider on the right side of my mixerthat locks

Get a copy of the Repair Part List for your model at Kitchenaid.com.
About one inch to the lower right of the Latch Lever (17) is the
Latch Bearing Screw (15). Use a small flat head screwdriver and
tighten that screw. Just don't tighten too much or the Latch (10)
won't be able to move up and down as intended.

Metal rod sticking out of the side of the mixer

The rod is the part that holds your mixer head to the base, turn the mixer over and you will see a small screw, loosen the screw and push or hammer the rod back until it is even with both sides of the mixer. Use a non metal hammer, then re-tighten the screw you loosened. it is a set screw that holds the pin in place. i would beleive that it is already loos or else you would not have the rod sticking out in the first place

Kitchenaid stand mixer plastic piece broke and now bowl will not lift up and lock

Easy fix! go to this sitehttp://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search_results.jsp?searchTerm=KSM150PS&siteCd=KAD&userType=Servicer there are two sections here 66 user guides on top and 66 parts lists for the different variations. find your model and o-en it then save it to your computer. Go to the section that pertains to the lift mechanism and you will see all the parts that are in the lift. the next page down will give you the parts numbers for those that you need the plastic part of which you speak is about 7.00 dollars at goodmans.com or mendingshed, com. meding shed ships faster but both are reliable sources for KA parts. order your parts when that arrive get a screw driver a punch and a non metal hammer. will take you 20 mins if you are confident. If you are careful and mark everything and make notes to yourself (I do the notes thing all the time) it will take about 45 mins. let us know if this helps.

Mixer will not turn on

Check to see if the motor brushes are worn or not sliding freely; you can do this without taking the mixer apart. On either side of the main mixer body, you should see a plastic screw-cap ~1/4" diameter. Take each off, and you should find a small black graphite (ish) chamfered block connected to the end of the spring. If the block is damaged, or even stuck when trying to pull it out, that's your problem. That is what happened to me. To fix, I used a pin to pry out the stuck brush/spring, then scraped around the inside to remove sticky debris. Also, I used a utility knife and gently shaved the sides of the block, so they'd slide more easily. After a few tests for smooth sliding, I reinstalled e brushes and the motor spins as normal. Best part: it was a FREE fix, and I didn't have to disassemble much! Do a search on YouTube for "kitchen aid mixer brushes", and you should find a helpful video from 'ereplacement parts'. Good luck!
