KitchenAid KITCHEN AID 5 Quart Artisan Series Stand Mixer - Page 4 Questions & Answers

This is another complaint about a Kitchenaid Standmixer, model K45SS.
It leaks oil, out of the 1 year warranty period. Called the company.
Got the standard line: Mixer must be run 2-3 minutes a week to avoid
leaks. Nothing appears in writing about it in their manual. Oil leaks
into food are dangerous. Please report these to the Consumer Products
Safety
Commission.
After calling their service center a second time, after seeing all the
complaints on this board, I informed them of my report to the CSSC.
They said they would send a "return repair kit". I could send it in for
repairs and if it was determined to be "defective" they would pay for
the repair. The representative would not state that this is, in fact a
"defect" and that I would be charged to have it inspected and repaired
if it was not. Cost, anywhere from 50 to 150. I would be charged to
ship it back if it wasn't defective and I decide not to have it
repaired.

KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer - Tilt is Tilting too Much & hits the bowl!
This may have a simple solution: This sounds like an issue of beater to
bowl adjustment, which can come out of alignment naturally over time
and with use of the machine.
If
the flat beater is striking the bottom of your bowl, this may cause the
locking mechanism to loosen and may cause the mixing head to "bounce"
during use.
Your Use and Care Guide will cover the "beater to bowl adjustment," which you can do at home in a few minutes with a flathead screwdriver.

Control Lock light is on and nothing works on my stovetop
Hi. Research your stovetop on the kitchenaid website. You should be able to download a user manual for your model. The manual should tell you how to reset the lock. If a manual is not available, try disconnecting the power supply to the stove. This might clear the memory of the stove. Good luck. ricardok45
Kitchen aid mixer leaking yellow oil is it repairable it still tu
It can be. This may require replaing the plate that the shaft comes through, since there is now enough play to allow the grease that is in the nead to leak through. You can find the parts online, but be ware, it involves tapping out pins and undoing many screws. Manuals are available online at Kitchenaid.com
MIXER WILL NOT RUN AFTER CLEAN/LUBE TEN YEAR SERVICE.
The speed control is a governor setup, it's purely on and off, as the weights on the motor shaft spin faster, they press against the contacts, and when they spin a fast enough speed, it turns off current to the motor, which makes it slow down, and current gets turned back on. That way, you get a pretty consistent speed on a setting no matter whether it's lightly loaded or whipping something fairly heavy. If you can turn the motor shaft by hand, then you don't have anything binding, but you might have gotten the speed control out of adjustment. give it another go.
KitchenAid Professional 5 Quart stand mixer grain mill won't grind?
From what I know about these and industrial Hobart mixers is that where drive gears are on a shaft they are held by a shear pin that goes right through the gear and the shaft. They are made to shear if the grinder or planetary head is strained. It shears the pin instead of damaging the motor or shredding gears. When they do shear, there is often enough friction to turn the attachment, but not enough force under load. I see two shear pins in this diagram 19/8 and part 14/8. The diagram also show the orientation of bevel gears.
