When you slide the smoker box and smoker tray out of the face of the grill, you may have to lift up the slightly lift up on the front of the slide, to remove it entirely from the grill. Once the slide is pulled out far enough to remove the smoker box, remove it first and set aside. Then continue to pull the slide all the way out, lifting the front as it reach the face of the control panel.

May be you need to replace the igniter. The igniter is easy to break if it is used for a long time or if it is not used for a long time. glo-warm doesnt sell a conversion kit since they have propane version they sell the propane unit --their are universal conversion kits but you would need to check if their compatible to the glo warm unit
