The catch is the switch which activates light inside the fridge. I would suggest you replace it. Before you do this make sure the bulb is not blown as if it is the case it will not work with a new switch. Hope this helps.

On occasion your compressor windings can be damaged from the starting components going bad. Or like you said the comp is locked up which in turn damaged the starting components from them continually trying to start the compressor. Either way it sounds like you have a bad compressor which will probably be more than you will want to spend. You would probably be looking at 600 bucks or more with parts and labor for a new compressor. Hope this helps _MJ_

The fitting is called a John Guest fitting. It has a couple of o-ring seals inside. Once the tube is pushed into one end it is locked in. To remove, push in on the tube (opposite of what you would think to remove) then hold down on the ring around the tube, then pull out. There is a good description on this website below

I have the same fridge. Called Kenmore and they said they couldn't do anything unless I made a service call. I did not want to pay someone to push a few buttons and fix the problem. So in a desperate attempt to not have to pay for a service call, I turned off all the power in the kitchen, for 30 seconds and turned it back on and the demo mode was over. So, you may just want to try that.

Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

the fridge is not cooling and the freezer is not freezing. The light is still coming on when we open the doors. It sounds like the compressor is still running. What do we do?

Your defrost system may be out. How old is this unit? How long has it been acting up? If it's frozen up really bad, there's no way for air to circulate to cool. It will need to be thawed out completely and a new defrost system put in. We have parts for you. Check your heater first, then the t-stat and timer to see if they are working or not. older fridges used fiber glass insulation(didn't carry sound)...new fridges use hard foam(much better insulation but carries sound a lot more)when you push handles you dampen the sound... not to worry it's normal just keep all coils clean

We had similar problem. Found the interior lights of refrig. were not turning off. Found out this was a recall problem and was fixed by sears for free.

I had this problem with my Kenmore bottom freezer drawer also. I found that the problem was I had too much weight at the very front of the drawer. Try reorganizing and moving items, especially heavier items away from the very front. Worked for me.

There are a lot of things that could be the source of the problem... is there no cooling at all going on in the freezer? Is the back wall of the freezer cold? It could be anything from a fan, to the compressor, to the control board... you need a technician.

I would get on the phone with Sears, and explain the continuing problems you have been having, and they may agree to cover service.

icemaker fan

The fan in the back of the freezer is for the freezer as well as the refrigerator. If the fan runs to slow the refrigerator does not get the chilled air, which cause it not to cool. I would have the fan swapped out to solve problem

clean all of the freezer seals and all contact points.

it is possible that a start relay has gone bad but more likely is that the compressor has seized up. if the unit is under 5 years old most likely the comp will be under warranty from sears. peyton

HI,

if the compressor is running your ref. should be getting cold. Their is a defrost timer but when it is in defrost the compressor shuts off. I think you do have a leak.

frigidaire has 2 diff i/m units if you have the one that has the i/m along the left hand wall of the freezer then probably you have a broken shutoff cam in the ice maker. solution is replace the i/m
if you have teh model with the icemaker along the back wall. over production of ice is nature of the beast and not really anything you can do about it.

one of the switches are bad if you have a multimeter check them for resistance
