if there is a fan in the freezer; in that is not working then yes OR the thermostat has gone. But the unit only has one compressor and if the fridge is working it is normally a good sign.

If you where really concerned you could call a domestic refrig tech they could fix it.

Check that the fan is operating. If the bottom of the fridge cold & the top warm then thats probably the issue.

Check to see if the fan blade by the compressor has a lint build up on the blade. This could also cause poor performance. Make sure the controls are set to median settings if both controls are set to max this can shut off the air to the fresh food section. If there is a damper to the fresh food section it could be not opening.

Sometimes icemakers get all frozen up, such that the motor cannot turn to eject the ice. Also, in some cases the water supply line freezes up, although that does not sound like your problem.

Try leaving the freezer open to defrost it manually and see if it starts working by itself. Also, the icemaker motors can and do fail. In some cases you smell an acrid burning smell when the motor fails.

It sounds like you may have toasted one of the starting componets. Either the start relay or the start capacitor has probably failed, causing the compressor to try to start, and then kick off on overload. Hope this helps

Unfortunately, no. If your freezer is not cooling then your refrigerator side will also get warm. The freezer is the source of cooling and it uses a fan to force the cold air into the refrigerator side. I would suggest calling a repairman to look at it for you to find out if it is fixable. It could just be something simple and does not always mean that you have to replace the unit, but that may be a possibility as well. Sorry!

The origional problem was probably not the icemaker but the electronic controller that sends power to the icemaker.
