Our life fitness 9500hr recumbent bike stopped working
If this unit has not been used for that period of time then the 6v batt has died ans needs replacing call National Gym Parts @ 1-800-496-7278 to order part# LC001.5
HERE IS THE PROCEDURE TO REPLACE THE BATT:
Tilt the bike on its side, remove mounting screws securing the battery to the bracket. Remove the battery just enough to access and disconnect the black (neg) wire from the (-) terminal and the red (pos) wire form the (+) terminal. Replace battery and reverse procedure when installing battery

Do you have to take the entire side cover off of
Yes you do have to take not one, but both sides off: First take off left and right pedals, a 14mm or 9 l16 end wrench will do the job. Then you will find specific holes where the screws that hold the side panels are I think they are # 15 or 20 torque ( star confiuration). This will expose the frame blow all the debris out. Last ,but not least you will locate the battery behind and below the alernator two phillips heads screw hold the 6v @ 2.5ah battery in place, then replace the the battery, and reassemble the unit. This sholud not take more than 30 min to do.

I have a lifefitness 9500hr that keeps burning
I am asuming you tested the drive motor, did any burning smell eminating from the motor? We do have a short in that board if that is still on your bench I would trace where those conponents are going to and use if you have a portable Dc power supply with voltage and current displays I would set power supply at a lower voltage ( 1v to 2v ) take grd lead to grd and use red for the purpose of isolating the short could be in the bank of IGBT's Caps shorted etc depending on location of damage.

How can I determine which Lifecycle I own.. I
On the bottom the bike frame their should be s# plate. If you need to replace the battery you need to: first remove the foot pedals, then side panels.
A 6v @ 2.5Ah battery should be in the frame
they sold run about $20.00 to $27.00 plus S/H

DOA Life Fitness 9500rhr exercise cycle
You should check your battery-it must be putting out at least 6 volts to get the computer started up-depending on the era there will be a battery near the bottom frame-you will need to remove on of the side covers to reach it-

Life fitness recumbent bike problem
Hi
We had exactly the same thing. If you take the covers off you will find a black battery pack in the bottom. It is about the same size as a cordless drill battery. We got a replacement from Maplins - cost about £10. It works perfectly now.
