Compressor not working on 2003 vw passat what do i need to do
You can try recharging, the refrigerant system has an electric switch for low pressure cut off that won't let the compressor turn on when there is not enough gas pressure. There is also a coolant temperature electric thermo switch that cuts off the compressor when the coolant or engine has overheated. If it's not low on refrigerant gas, then an electric problem needs to be diagnosed. A service or repair manual would then come in handy.

How to tell if the compressor on your ac unit is running
If you have a split unit, it is fairly simple, just feel the small refrigerant line coming out of the unit. The temperature should be warmer than the surrounding air. If is not running the temperature will be the same as the surrounding air. If you have a package unit, take off the access cover to where the compressor is located. Find the compressor discharge piping to the the condensing coil. It is the smaller of the two major pipes on the side of the compressor. Be careful the temperature of line coming out of a properly operating compressor will be hot enough to cause second degree burns. If the line is very warm to very hot the compressor is running. If you have a set of gauges, attach the RED hose to the high pressure service connection and the other low pressure hose BLUE to the bigger pipe low pressure connection. Make sure the gauges are isolated by shutting the valves. The pressure difference between high and low pressure is normally at least 150 psig diference.

Ac compressor fan running backwards.
Fan motors have rotations, clockwise and counter clockwise, lead end and opposite lead end. If you are looking at the motor from the fan blade side and the wires are on the back (opposite) side of the motor then you are looking at opposite lead end. Then you need to determine the rotation of the blade. It will scoop the air, so turning the blade that direction will give you the rotation. They also sell motors that you can change rotation by changing certain wires they have added.
When you replace a motor you need to notice the rotation and order that rotation. which end of the motor you are looking at to determine it. Then order the same rotation when buying the new one.

What does the battery power on the Goodman Airconditioner?
I'm assuming you are talking about the capacitor, which stores a charge of electricity to give the A/C a "boost" to start. There are a number of possibilities that can cause these to fail, but the more common ones would have to be extreme heat, power surges, or a compressor that could be
going bad. Either way, most companies carry at least a one year parts warranty, and some will even do labor. If this is happening on a regular basis though, the electrical system needs to be evaluated and someone needs to make sure that the right capacitor is installed. Hope this helps!
