Goodman CKL30AR30 Air Conditioner Questions & Answers
With a typical line set, how much R-22 should a ckl30-1 2.5 ton a/c need?
the refrigeranterant charge is stamped on the unit data plate in ounces of freon. take this number and multiply it by 16 and get the pounds and the decimal point will need to be converted back to ounces. example 138 ounces equals 8.625 lbs of freon which is about 8 lbs and 8 0r 9 ounces. this is for a 15 foot lineset. measure your lineset and substract 15 , then take this number and add .6 per foot. .6 ounces of freon per foot of refrigerant line over 15 feet. you will have to use a quality digital scale to weigh in this total charge

Why are the high side and low side press the same
There could be a couple of answers:
1.If the compressor is running, the internal valves may be broken. No valves, no compression = no pressure change. 2. If the compressor is running and you hear a hissing sound, it's in 'by-pass' because of an overheating situation. Will be very, extremely hot to the touch. 3. Is the compressor even running ? Just because the fan is spinning, doesn't mean the compressor is running.

Goodman ckl30 1d outside unit not working is there
it probaly is the capacitor you can sometimes tell by the shape of it if it is dished out instead of dished in. you could use a stick to push in the contactor in if the outdoor fan is not running. low freon could keep the contactor from engaging.

Blower fan does not operate
I assume you are referring to the indoor blower motor. can you here a "hum" from the blower motor as if it is trying to come on and sounds "stuck"? If so, while its humming safely give it a spin (WATCH YOUR HANDS BLOWER WHEEL IS SHARP) . If it takes off and runs you need a capacitor

Blows and fan kicks on but air not cold
Is the outside compressor running? I would check the capacitor. Look for swelling as a sure sign of capacitor failure. have you tried resetting the breaker? Sometimes that works but it don't cure the real problem. If the breaker is tripped lokk for reasons why it would trip the number one reason being a broken wire going off to one of the compressor terminals or a shorted capacitor. Capacitors can be bad in several differing ways, shorted, open, or wrong/out of spec caps can cause trouble. Is the contactor pulling in on the compressor side? Something gets under there and that can throw a monkey wrench in there also. 220 volts cal kill you so make sure you got the power turned off to the unit before attempting to do any repairs and if it is wet outside wait till the ground is dry.
More herelook for signs of burnt contacts on the contactor. Check the small coil under for continuity and make sure 24 volts ac is getting out there.
If the motor ain't turning fast or growling at ya then use zoomoil to lube it up. Get some coil cleaner and go by directions wash down the condenser. Change the indoor air filters.
Make dang sure the power is off to the unit before doing the suggestions and do not get the motor wet or wait till it drys thoroughly before turning the unit back on. If you need further help, reach me via phone at
