Question edited for clarity, full 'make model (what it is)'. Question moved from Cars and Trucks category to correct Toro. In that scenario, the clutch jamming and locking up against something may be a possibility. If the clutch just jams it holds the blades on contact with the drive. VALVES MIGHT NEED ADJUSTED

The automatic brake actuator provides for the start solenoid return path to battery negative, i.e. the green wire. The brake actuator must be in a "BRAKE ON" state or engine cranking is disallowed.

If you measure battery voltage at the solenoid green wire then likely the brake actuator is not in a "BRAKE ON" state.

With engine off and key in on/run position you should hear the brake actuator move from brake on/off/on with control arms out/in/out movements.

We're having problem an issue keeping our mower running it is a Toro ss5000 TimeCutter.. it would start run for a few seconds and then shut off

check for rusted or failing bearings on the cutter shafts

Sounds like you have a Relay that is hanging up

this sure sounds as if you have a seat switch issue , this is a safety device to make sure theres an operator that weights more than 115 lbs in seat , the blade engauge problem and non movement tells me this

are you sure that's not a fuel pump ? unless this thing runs on diesel , im pretty sure that's a fuel pump not a fuel shut off , and no ya cant run without a fuel pump , but I gotta ask do you know the exact cause of the fire ? if theres a possibility that it was the fuel pump overloaded , just hooking a hot wire to it could burn the entire machine down

get a new ignition switch and safety switch for your deck

The spring might be broken or stuck that returns the gear. Take off starter and clean or replace broken parts

toro is brand new and mowed for a few minutes and then it locked down and wouldn't move forward or backwards.

Check under the deck and make sure the blades can spin freely, there will be resistance but mostly check to see if they are stuck. If they are not and can move, you can try to remove the belt from the pto, engage and see if it spins then. If it does not than there is probably an issue with pto clutch
