How to Clear BIOS Password Three Methods:Using the Password BreakerReset Jumpers to Clear a CMOS PasswordOther Methods to Clear a BIOS Password A BIOS or CMOS password is set and entered from a DOS-like prompt after a computer is powered on and before Windows or another operating system loads. If you have a computer with a BIOS password, that has been forgotten, or is unknown, you will not be able to get past the password prompt to boot the operating system or even view what is on the hard drive. Fortunately, there are several methods that can be used to bypass it. Learn these methods to find out how to clear a BIOS password.
  • 1
Using another computer, load up your Internet browser. Go to this website, and write down the code shown on the locked computer
  • 2
    • Pay the Small fee, and then enter the code you have written down. A few codes will be provided, so try them all until you find the one that works. This also works for locked HDD drives, so make sure you take a look.
  • 3 You're computer is now unlocked! Keep the backup password handy, this will be invaluable if you locked out of you're pc again.
670px-clear-bios-password-step-1.jpg1 Unplug the computer and remove all peripheral connections like monitors and printers.
  • 670px-clear-bios-password-step-2.jpg2 Reduce electrostatic discharge (ESD). Wear a wrist strap to eliminate ESD, or make sure 1 hand is holding a metal piece while you are working inside the computer. Wear rubber soled shoes, and stand on an ESD mat if possible.
  • 670px-clear-bios-password-step-3.jpg3 Open the computer. Locate the CMOS jumper. The jumper will usually consist of 3 pins, though on the rare occasion, 2 pins (requiring you to supply the jumper itself). This often is labeled with "clear," "cmos," "password" or some abbreviation that indicates it is the password jumper. It is usually located near the CMOS battery, or processor. In laptops, it is often a dipswitch at the bottom of the laptop. Consult your motherboard documentation to find the location if you are unsure of where it is located.
  • 670px-clear-bios-password-step-4.jpg4 Make note of which pins the jumper covers. Remove the jumper. Reinstall it so that it covers the pin that is currently not covered. For example, if it covers pins 2 and 3, change it so that it covers pins 1 and 2.
  • 670px-clear-bios-password-step-5.jpg5 Reassemble the computer, and re-connect the power. Turn on the computer. Check to see that the password is cleared.
  • 670px-clear-bios-password-step-6.jpg6 Turn off the computer. Disconnect the power cord, and open it. Change the jumper settings back to the original position.
  • 670px-clear-bios-password-step-7.jpg1 Search online for generic CMOS passwords. Older computers sometimes have a generic password set by the manufacturer. To find one, search for the name of your manufacturer. Keep in mind that the computer password may have changed or no longer is in use.
  • 670px-clear-bios-password-step-8.jpg2 Download a utility to bypass the computer password. These can be found online and loaded with a CD or floppy disk.
  • 670px-clear-bios-password-step-9.jpg3 Take out the CMOS battery. Leave it out for longer than 5 minutes, and then reseat it. This will clear all BIOS settings, including the password. Keep in mind that you will have to reset the BIOS date, time and other settings.
  • 670px-clear-bios-password-step-10.jpg4 Contact the manufacturer. Find information about the motherboard, and call either the motherboard or computer manufacturer. They can tell you whether there is a CMOS default password or solder beads that must be jumped.

My netbook won't turn on at all

Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it could be faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact. Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

Unlock bios password on msi u100

If the boot sequence is wrong, then how can you even try and log into XP, what you're saying makes no sense. You said, (every time I attempt to log in It prompts me to activate xp)So it's booting to the hard drive, why would you need to change it ??????????????????Removing the CMOS battery might and I mean might reset BIOS password, but that has nothing to do with XP and activation. You can't upgrade until you get XP activated. So you might as well install XP pro.Do a search on google for a XP crack if you can afford to buy it.I won't post how to crack it.

My bios setup is locked with password and i dont know the password, what shall i do?

The Windows operating system allows you to compress the files on your drive to conserve disk space. In some situations, this compression process will compress files required for the operating system to boot. Files that are compressed must be decompressed prior to execution. Since the operating system has not loaded, boot files cannot yet be decompressed. In this case, the operating system will fail to load and a "BootMgr is compressed" message will appear. An easy way around this problem is to boot from the Windows DVD, and use the provided interface to access your drive properties and decompress it. Turn on the computer, and insert your Windows DVD. Press a random key on your keyboard once you see the "Press any key..." message. This interrupts booting from the hard drive and forces a boot from the Windows DVD. Click the "Next" button at the bottom of the Windows 7 dialog, and then click the "Repair your Computer" link Below. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-are-the-system-recovery-options-in-Windows-7 http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa364219(v=vs.85).aspx File Compression and Decompression Select the "Load Drivers" button at the bottom of the "System Recovery Options" dialog, and click the "OK" button on the "Add Drivers" dialog. This opens a file browser on your screen. Click the "Computer" icon, which is located on the left hand side of the screen. This displays an icon for your disk drive. Right-click your hard drive, and click "Properties. " This opens a Local Disk Properties dialog. Click to deselect the "Compress this drive..." option at the bottom, and then click the "Apply" button. Select the "X" icon to close the file browser window. This takes you back to the Install Windows dialog. Press the "X" icon at the corner of the Install Windows dialog. This opens a cancellation dialog. Select the "Yes" button on this dialog to restart your computer. Hope this helps b>

Hi, I am using MSI U100 notebook, having intel atom and windows XP as OS. For the past few days i have a problem and that is my screen resolution is 800 by 600 and i am not able to change to 1024by 80

If this only started a few days ago why not roll your system back to a date before you started having problems?Click Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore then select a Restore Point (date and time) that is before you started having problems. System Restore will not delete your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs (unless the program was installed after the restore point you selected). It sounds like you may have a virus or infection that did something to your display driver, and the restore will take care of it.
