use brightness arrows on your keypad.or goto your control panel and go into your display setting and see if you can set it from there.

could be the screen going,or a dry joint,or goto your display setting and see if you can turn it up from there.

THAT HAPPENED TO ME! And now it just won't come back! every time I open Play Camera it says 'there is an invalid argument' so i got a new webcam and it doesnt register. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling play camera but it just doesn't work at all! STRESSFUL -.-

Laptops (esp. older ones) should never be left plugged in 24/7. You need to stop using the charger (the problem is only in the charger and NOT the laptop?) and replace it. The burning smell is something overheating which can lead to a fire and sparks are rarely a good sign.I'd cut the cord on the charger, so it can't be used again and replace it.
