Where do I find a rear drum bearing and seal?

From the ApplianceJunk.com Forum:
Duet washer started getting louder and louder during the spin cycle. When I manually turned the basket I could feel that the bearings were shot. A quick search of the internet confirmed that this problem was no fluke. I found an illustrated parts breakdown of my washer online, and saw that Whirlpool only offers a replacement rear tub assembly, at a cost of $408. Needless to say, I was peeved. I paid about $960 two years ago for this machine, and now it will require $6-700 in repairs. Unacceptable. So, having a mechanical background, I started to tear into the machine myself. I tore it all the way down to the rear tub half. I found what appeared to be the problem with my machine, hair. Hair worked its way to the bearing area, slowed unseated the seal, and then acted as a conduit for water to enter the bearing cavity. The seal itself actually looked fine. Yet the steel hub that the bearings are pressed into was badly corroded, as were the bearings, and even the driveshaft had corrosion on it. I pounded out the cheap factory bearings, cleaned up the bearing cavity and driveshaft, and replaced them with some higher quality Toyo's from my local bearings and drive store, P/N's 6206ZZC3 & 6205ZZC3. Unfortunately they didnt have a suitable replacement seal in stock. I didnt damage the factory one too badly upon removal, so I straightened it up with a couple of hammer taps, made sure it sealed nicely against the driveshaft, and reused it. The new bearings cost me $20. I made sure I sent a nastygram to Whirlpool, they offered me a replacement rear tub for 50% off, I told them to stick it. Hopefully I get at least 3 more years out of it, I've already started looking for my next machine, I'm likely going to buy a SpeedQueen. Anyways, if your tub bearings are shot and you have the will, they can be replaced yourself for a fraction of the cost of a factory rear tub half. My advice, take notes during disassembly, keep all the hardware from the different components you remove separated from one another. Dont be afraid to use permanent marker to write reminders directly on the components as theyll be hidden inside the reassembled washer when done. I did the repairs by myself, having a helper wouldve made things much easier. As for tools, I was shocked at how few I actually needed. A nut driver or torx apex, a 1/2" socket and rachet, some slip joint pliers, a wrench to remove the drive pulley, and a hammer and punch to remove/install the bearings. F02 code comes up

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. F/02 error means Long Drain. If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes, the water valves are turned off and "F/02" is flashed. Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.
  • Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
  • Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
  • Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
  • If the above does not correct the problem, replace the pump.

Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

F06 fault

Hi,

F/06"

Drive Motor Tachometer Error

The control is unable to properly detect motor speed and the machine will shut down. If a failure occurs during high-speed spin, the door will be unlocked after 3 minutes.

Try unplugging it first to reset the control board. The code means you have a communication error between the boards.You need to check :-

* Check wire harness connections between the Drive Motor/Tachometer and the Motor Control Unit (MCU), and between the MCU and the Central Control Unit (CCU)
* Check the Drive Motor
* Check the MCU
* Check the Wire Harness

I have found the central control unit to be the problem most the time but it could be the motor control board to.

However, i would advise you to Call a Repairman as it is not possible to check whether CCU is at Fault or MCU. On the basis of the series of Inspection, you need to Order the Correct Part. These are Quite Expensive and Non Refundable Parts.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Washer will not drain

Hello,the drain hose COULD be plugged.
Mine had the PUMP INLET plugged with lint/dimes.

That's right, three dimes and some lint kept the water from getting to the pump.

For even an inexperienced handiman, the fix is easy.
1) DISCONNECT THE POWER !!!
2) Open access door in middle of back panel - 4 screws
3) Disconnect pump inlet hose - pump is on the floor/left as you face the inside from the rear. Have lots of towels handy as water will run out of the tub. This is a simple hose clamp - you dont have to remove the clamp - only loosen enough to remove the hose.

You can tell the inlet hose as it comes from the tub.
The outlet hose exits the pump and exits the machine.

4) stick your finger into the pump inlet and feel for any debris. I have found much lint and small coins. Somehow dimes get into the pump inlet and make perfect check valves preventing water from getting into the pump.
Remove the debris.

5) reconnect the pump inlet hose
6) replace back access panel.
7) plug back in and test.
If it does not drain now, you may need a new pump.

For even a handyman with four thumbs, this procedure should take less than 30 minutes !
Thanks

Display shows sud

"SUD" is a Suds Detect error code. The following link explains the error and potential causes:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608687-sud_error

The number one cause of the error is from using too much, or the wrong type of detergent. You are required to High Efficiency (HE) detergent with these washers because the concentration is formulated for HE washers that use small amounts of water. Using the wrong type of detergent can also void any warranty you may have.

NOTE: HE detergent does not have a lot of suds, which often confuses consumers into thinking they aren't using enough detergent. With HE washers little to no suds if normal and preferred.

Secondary causes can come from something restricting the drainage system. Most notably, something lodged in the drain pump and/or drain hose(s). I've included a follow-on link that explains how to check the drain pump reservior if required.

Read through the link provided and let me know if you still have questions. I hope this helps you.
