The "LD" code or "long drain" indicates a pump/drain related issue. Check the drain line for kinks or obstructions. Check the pump. Remove the hoses from the pump and use a flashlight to look into the suction port. Make sure nothing is clogging the pump (like the occasional stray sock) and check the pump impeller. Make sure the impeller has no broken/missing blades and that it spins freely. If any blades are missing/broken or if you can't get the impeller to spin freely, the pump is defective. The SD error code is caused by using the wrong detergent or excessive amounts of detergent.

To correct the issue: Make sure to use HE detergent. Note: Using Non - HE Detergent will cause oversudsing and can damage the washer. Do not use too much detergent.

Note: If using HE 2x - 5x concentrate detergent, reduce the amount being used. The washer will try to run a mini-clean out cycle using cold water and a 5 minute pause to clear the suds. If this cycle does not clear the display and complete the cycle the clothing may need to be rinsed by hand and then rewashed without detergent.

I can't be sure without looking at the machine but I have had several of these type of machines the get cloths under the agitator "wash plate thing" in the bottom of the basket. This will eventually clog up the pump but stuff that hangs out in there can really get to smelling after a while. Try removing the wash plate and see if you see anything under there. In the future make sure you use a lingerie bag for all small items to prevent them from getting stuck under the wash plate.

Check the inlet and the outlet, check the filters on both the ends as if this is clogged there is delay in filling or draining. Also check the flow of inlet to be good, if not remove and clean the inlet filter and the drain filter.check this link for tips: cleaning vent

This may be a motor coulping problem. I replaced mine today on a Kenmore it took 30 minutes time and a $25. part picked up locally. Was able to get a good diagram on line to take the housing off the machine and move the necessary parts to get to the coulping. Smile, clean clothes are not far away!

My mtw6700tq0 was doing the same thing and got progessively worse. I found out the suspension springs sometimes weaken. I replaced them and the problem went away. Sears PART NUMBER: 8564009 - Maytag part - W10189077 - costed me $51.47 from Sear Parts Center. The replacements have added pieces to replace the need for a grease filled fitting. So be sure to read the instructions so you dont have re-open the unit to install all the extra parts..like I did. Good luck.
