Call Speed Queen Support...they are very helpful. I spoke with a guy by the name of "Tim" who was very helpful.

2018 Speed Queens did not have lid locks. The 2019 machines do. The lid lock can not be disabled. If the lid is stuck closed, you can, with 30 pounds of pressure, raise the lid without damaging the lock. (unlike any other machine on the market)

Change out the water valve. The water valve is what the water hoses are hooked up to on the rear of the machine. This is a pretty easy replacement. The new one goes on like the old one comes off. Turn the water off and disconnect the water hoses from the back of the machine. Sometimes there is one hex head that is removed and the valve tips out for replacement. Depends on the year and model.

remove the top cover tilt down the control panel turn the knob on the water selector when doing that look at the backside of switch panel watch the cam riding on the switch it has an adjustment try adjusting and if that does not work then you have a bad switch

Buy a new agitator

Cut 3 pieces of wood a bit thicker than the new pads. Jam then in the brake to relieve the pressure on the pads. Undo 1 or 2 screws holding pad and pull out. Reassemble reverse order

Remove FILL hose and try scraping out inside with a screwdriver. If you get the black stuff- fit new hoses. Or , remove drum and look for build up muck . If you have this you need to change your washing habit.
