Epic View 550 Treadmill - Page 4 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
I put it "up" for
push it forward before trying to pull knob and make sure the incline is at the lowest level.
Unfolding the treadmill
1. Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your left hand. Pull the latch knob to the left and hold it. Pivot the frame downward and release the latch knob. Note: To release the latch knob, it may be necessary to push the
frame forward as you pull the latch knob to the left.
2. Hold the metal frame firmly with both hands, and lower it to the floor. CAUTION: To decrease the possibility of injury, do not lower the frame by gripping only the plastic foot rails. Do not drop the frame to the floor. Make sure to bend your legs and keep your back straight.
How do I unfold the treadmill
I have a nordic track 1500 - we folded it to make room one evening but now am not sure how to unfold. can anyone help
thanks
The tread on the treadmill is beginning to slip
The drive belt between the motor and the front roller may be slipping.
All drive belts tend to wear with age and will wear more quickly if not aligned properly.
Tightening the drive belt according to the directions in your owner's manual may prevent slippage but we don't recommend it since it is easy to overtighten and this can damage expensive drive system parts- you are much better off replacing the drive belt.
Some models are designed with a misaligned drive belt so the treadmill can use the side load of the drive belt to reduce operating tension. These will always wear out quickly.
Treating the drive belt with belt dressing, will help the drive belt if slipping and will help prevent cracking and splitting of the drive belt.
If slipping of the drive belt persists after following these steps, the drive belt must be replaced. Call Icon Fitness @ 1-800-999-3756 for parts

Seems there is no power getting to main Display
Next step is to see if the cable harness is pinched or damage you'll need a multi-meter to check and see if the DC voltage reaching the upper display. Locate the red (+ ) & black ( - ) leads you should have 5v DC or 11v DC or both. If you have the voltages, then upper console needs to be replaced if not, replace the harness.
My fans don't turn on when I press the button.
This problem occurs even in the $7,000.00 units. My suggestion is unplug the treadmill then remove the upper console. Remove the back panel find the two wire that come form the fan motor get a 9v battery plug it into the motor and see if it runs. If it does, then you have a function pad problem or upper electronics problem ( I tend to lean towards the function pad ) if it doesn't then replace fan motor
Treadmill is plugged, lights are on but does not work
The standard calibration procedure to calibrate an Icon treadmill is done by holding down the speed up and stop keys while inserting the safety key or putting the key in place (if magnetic). If your keypad is not responding, because your treadmill keypad has failed or the console computer has failed. In these cases, the keypad can be replaced in limited instances or the console has to be replaced.
Now if you are able to get in calibration mode then Press the Stop key one time. The Time window should read EP:2P. Some newer models may also say FP, Pass, This means that it passes the EPROM test. If it shows ff or 2f your upper console will need to be replace.
Next step if eprom passes:
Press either incline key and the incline will calibrate automatically.
DO NOT STAND ON THE WALKING BELT.Press the Speed Up key and hold it down until 85 is shown in the Distance window (some models may show the 85 number in another window). if you get the the number to 85 and the belt does not move , on the lower board you will see a like flicker that would be the speed control this tells you that the upper console and terminal cable is good ,but lower board defective.

When I turn on the treadmill, the incline is stuck
ICON CALIBRATION INSTRUCTIONS- INCLINE
1) Press the Stop and the Speed Up keys down while inserting the safety key. If this doesn’t work, click on the help topic entitled “Alternate Calibration Codes” for key sequence instructions to enter calibration.
2) Press the Stop key one time. The Time window should read EP:2P. Some newer models may also say FP, Pass, or the like. This means that it passes the EPROM test.
3) Press either incline key and the incline will calibrate automatically.
4) THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP BECAUSE YOU WILL GET AN ERROR MESSAGE IF THIS STEP IS SKIPPED. After completing calibration of incline, press the Stop key and then remove the safety key.
- If the incline moves but you it will not operate normally nor calibrate, check the wiring from the incline sensor to the power board. If all looks normal, put it back in calibration and see if you see a blinking “- -” symbol in the incline window when you are calibrating. If not, the incline sensor is bad.
- If the incline moves but only just a bit, it could be a problem as simple as the gearbox on the motor being jammed. We remove the motor from the treadmill, reconnect the wiring, and then try to run the incline motor outside the treadmill. Many times, this will unjam it if that is the problem and then reinstalling it in the treadmill will get it to work. If you have the same problem or it doesn’t run outside the machine and you can hear it try to work, you need to replace the incline motor.
- If the incline motor does not move, we need to figure out if the motor is getting voltage. Use a simple multi-meter and set it to AC volts. When you put it into calibration, it tries to calibrate the directions one at a time. Measure across the white and black wires first, then measure across the white and red wires second. If the motor is getting voltage you will read 120VAC (or thereabouts) one one of the measurements. If you have voltage but the motor won't move, you need to replace the motor.
If the incline motor does not move and you have done the voltage test and you do not have any voltage present, there is a problem in the electronics board that supplies the power. If the console is powering the drive motor as normal, you can bet it is getting an incline signal and the power board needs to be replaced (some models have an integrated power board/controller) so if there is only a single board the whole board has to be replaced
I left the red key in epic view 550 for 1 full
Check the reset/off circuit breaker located on the treadmill frame near the power cord. If the switch protrudes as shown, the circuit breaker has tripped. To reset the circuit breaker, wait for five minutes and then press the switch to the reset position.
When folding the treadmill, I cannot get it to
First foremost is the unit incline to zero degree if not power up the unit hit the start and use the quick incline zero button. Now if that does not resolve the problem check your latching assembly especially the knob and see if it locks in place or if the knob feels sticky then a little bit of 3 in 1 machine oil will do the job.
The belt on treadmill will rull at full speed,
Sounds like your motor control board has shorted you need to go to
iconfitness.com got customer support then to parts replacement input brand name and model# you will get a exploded view of parts and price.
If you proceed in purchasing the part then you will need to remove motor shroud replace circuit board. You may need to do a speed calibration and it will come with instructions how to do that.
We are putting the Epic 550 together and got to
check and see if you incline is down to zero if not this problem occurs or the or plug it in and if the incline reset itself then it should be o k if not you may have to do a calibration on it
Treadmill powers up but belt will not rotate
Check to see if the motor is spinning. If not spinning, then use a voltmeter to find out the voltage of power going to the motor that spins the belt. See if you can rotate it by hand.
Epic550 treadmill shutdown unexpectedly and display is blank.
Check the upright wiring harness on the right side. If the harness was routed incorrectly or care was not take during installation, the harness is pinched/cut/damaged when the right upright is bolted on. This is the main issue I encounter on this style treadmill when it will not work after assembly. Will require a new upright harness if damaged. If it is under warranty, call and have them replace it. It is covered
Sounds like bearing loose inrear of tread mill
It sounds as if your rear roller may have a bad bearing. The bearings themselves are not replacable. The entire roller must be replaced. You can find the parts lited on iconservice.com and enter EPTL09706 in the model number box under the "replacement parts" section of the site. This replacement can be done easily using normal home hand tools.
First remove power to the machine.
Second put the machine into space saver mode. (latched in the up position)
Third go to the rear of the machine and locate the 2 wheels on the rear. There is an allen screw with a nut holding the wheels in place.
Fourth there are 2 screws holding the wheel bracket onto the end caps of the machine.
Fifth there are another 2 srews holding the endcaps onto the frame assembly.
lastly you will be able to locate the two bolts holding the rear roller in place. First mark the bolts where they connect to the actual roller with something so you can see how far to tighten the bolts back onto the new roller. remove the old roller...install the bolts onto the new roller then tighten back down to the marks you made on the bolts.
reverse the process for removing the other brackets.
If after replacing the roller your belt is not straight you may adjust it by this procedure.
If the belt is tracking to the right Then access the right allen screw located on the rear of the machine that connects to the rear roller.
Rotate this bolt CLOCKWISE 1 full revolution. This should move the belt to the left.
Do the same procedure except on the left if the belt is tracking to the left.
Good Luck! Tim
