Proform 380 CS Treadmill ! - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

Check to see that the treadmill does not draw more amp than stated in the owners manual. If you are, then the problem is in treadmill. If not try another circuit in the house (not just another receptacle).

1) test the outlet wall with a desklamp, if the lamp turn On THE circuit is o.k otherwise, the problem is fuse blown or c. breaker tripped, reset or replace fuse.2) test the power cord for open or faulty. with VOM usin continuity3) test the fuse y/o c.breaker inside of machine and reset or replace.4) Turn on the machine if the machine keep the same simpton, test the key(magnet) the key is a magnet, test vs your magnet from seal magnet of your refrigerator for atraction or repulsion, if doesnot pass the test replace the magnet from some hardware like home depot.and PROOF again, can be work. see the block,Otherwise if the problem keep you must call some tech profesional, maybe you have Main switch open or defective and need replace, or power supply, capacitor, transformer, etc defective. or faulty.God bless you

If the console takes batteries, replace them. If this does not work or your console does not require batteries, check the reed switch or optic sensor. Reed Switch: Unplug the treadmill and remove the motor hood cover. The reed switch is mounted on the frame next to the front roller pulley. There is a magnet glued into the front roller pulley. When adjusting the reed switch, make sure it is pointing directly at the magnet. Move the tip of the reed switch within 1/8" of the magnet. Also, check to see that the wire is not damaged, and is connected to the console. Optic Sensor: Unplug the treadmill and remove the motor hood cover. The optic disk and sensor are located either at the end of the motor or the right hand side of the front roller. The optic disk spins between two sensors on the optic switch. The disk must spin freely without touching either sensor. The sensors can be moved by loosening the adjustment bolt holding the switch to its bracket. The switch can then be slid. Center the disk.

If the problem persist, the motor or the board is faulty.

Optic Sensor MOTOR Signal Test Procedure

Turn on unit power. Do not press display keys. Use your hand to rotate the motor flywheel. Normal result:

LED 10 lights to indicate the optic sensor signal entering the drive board. The LED appears to flicker at a

low speed and remain lit at high speed.

Optic Sensor MOTOR Signal Test Results

If LED10 does not light, inspect:

1. Optic sensor signal wires and their connections; Reinsert wire ends into connectors.

2. Whether optic sensor wheel rotates in the middle of the sensor; If not, reinstall the optic sensor wheel.

3. Whether optic sensor wheel teeth are broken or bent; if so, replace the optic sensor wheel.

4. If LED2, the VCC circuit indicator, on the drive board lights and there is no optic sensor signal output

(LED10 does not light), and if optic sensor wires and connections are good, replace the optic sensor.

For lubricating treadmill you can use teflon based silicon lubricant. The followihg video will help you to lubricate your treadmill.

Is your machine more than two years old and you've been using it a lot? If so, you probably need a new belt. You can order one at Treadmill Parts.

You will need to take out the screws on each side that holds the console to the uprights. When you lift up the right side of the console be carefull as you will need to disconnect the upright cable from the console cable. There is a clip to press as you pull the cable connectors apart. Tie a string around the cable connector that is in the upright cable that runs thru the upright as you will have to pull it out when reassembling. You can now lift the console off. You may be able to turn it on its side and fold the uprights down to carry it through the dorway. If it still won't fit, remove the struts too.

Press the Stop and the Speed Up keys down while inserting the safety key. This should get you into calibration mode. Press the Stop key one time. The Time window should read EP:2P. Some newer models may also say FP, Pass, or the like. This means that it passes the EPROM test. If you cannot get into calibration or if the EPROM test fails then the upper console will have to be replaced.
If you get pass to this point then proceed with the calibrating the incline and speed.
Press either incline key and the incline will calibrate automatically.
Be careful the treadmill will run at full speed in the next mode DO NOT STAND ON THE WALKING BELT.Press the Speed Up key and hold it down until 85 is shown in the Distance window (some models may show the 85 number in another window).
If the top speed of the treadmill does not match the displayed speed on the computer console, adjust the max speed potentiometer (pot) on the motor control board. This is the board that the red and black motor wires connect directly into in the motor area. The Max Speed pot is clearly labeled
The max speed potentiometer is a small square with a mobile center and is located in one corner of the board and is labeled MAX SPD. It is near the harness that carries the speed signal labeled H,W,L. Using a small insulated screwdriver adjust this potentiometer clockwise to speed up and counter-clockwise to slow down the max speed of the treadmill. A tiny turn of this potentiometer will make a big difference in speed so be careful when making adjustments.
It is not important to get the speed set exactly at the max speed of the treadmill but do make sure to get the speed within .2 MPH of the max speed of the treadmill. For instance if the max speed of the treadmill is 10 MPH, make sure to have the speed set between 9.8 MPH and 10.2 MPH. Some models have a 12 MPH top speed, so please check your manual if you aren’t sure.
After completing calibration of the speed, press the Speed Down key. The treadmill will automatically return to 0 MPH. Please allow the unit to stop completely before continuing. Press the Stop key once and remove the safety key.

The console needs to be replaced. I used to service these machines as a field service tech. The consoles on these are not hard to replace. If it is under warranty the warranty provider will replace it for you. Anytime you buy excercise equipment it is a good idea to buy the extended warranty
