My Bulova wristwatch has had two batteries

Hi Maureen, The first thing i would have checked is the battery strap if there is one to make sure it is properly fitted over the battery. Other than that as long as the batteries were from a reputable jeweler, it seem as if you watch may need a movement cleaning and or repair it could possibly be the coil. Most of our watch cleanings run around $80.00 but we do all repairs by estimate. Thank you! Lisa

My battery in my watch keeps going out, I change it at least twice a year, I do not wear this watch often, is that the problem?

Yes. Because the battery became cold, and its finish faster.

New watch bulova 96R-19 women,

I have read the instruction for this watch and I am surprised how little they tell you!

The description of the watch does not say if it is automatic or battery driven so I shall give you two alternatives to try:-

1) If it is battery driven, then there may be a wedge under the winder to prevent it going into the running position (to save the battery while it is on the shelf). Pull this out and push the winder home.

2) If it is automatic, then it is mechanically driven by a spring and needs to be wound up. This is done by either turning the winding knob or gently shaking it from side to side form some minutes. Once going, such a watch needs to be worn daily to keep it running. They will normally run for 1 - 2 days before stopping when not being worn.

If you were not given instructions with your watch, you can get them from their web site http://www.bulova.com/brands/bulova/product.aspx?origin=sku&sku=96R19&brand=bulova.

I try to put the

Usually you would need a watchmakers press for closing the watch back. Without proper tools it is quite difficult, but you can try the following. Take a leather belt and lay it flush on an even, solid surface (stable table will do). Undo the strap (both ends) from watch case by pushing spring bars inwards with pen knife. Lay the watch crystal face down on the leather belt. Belt must be wider than watch itself and the leather must be quite hard and even, not soft. Find the small groove on watch case back and align it very carefully to the watch's winding stem, so, the stem goes directly in the middle in protrusion. Slightly push the case back into the watch case at that groove point and gradually apply pressure with fingers going all way around the case back. Use your body weight if needed. You should hear "click" sound when the case back jumps in to place. If this does not work, there is no other way, but to go and see watchmaker. Hope it will work for you.

96R19 Wrist Watch: How can I change the battery...

A general observation - Take you watch to a shop to have it done professionally. Some watches are difficult to get into and there are lots of pitfalls for the unwary. I've seen far too many watches ruined by people wanting to save a bit of money by trying to change batteries themselves.

Tighten watch

On this type of watch, you would normally remove sections of the bracelet to tighten it although there is sometimes scope for small adjustment in the clasp itself. This is a fiddly job, and my best advice to you would be to take the watch to your local watch repair/watchmakers/jewellers shop and get them to do it for you - it shouldn't cost you much and hopefully they'd do a professional job.

Chronograph for Bulova 96R19 not working

As it had a battery change since it was new? If it uses a Miyota movement, it needs resetting after a battery change to restore the 12 position for the hands. It involves shorting 2 points on the back of the movement (needs back off).

How do i set time back and have watch work again

This model has a pull out crown (the middle "button") on the side of your watch. Simply pull the crown out and turn to set the time. If your watch is not working after this then it likely needs a battery change.

How do i snap the backplate back on my buulova

If you cannot snap the back on with your fingers the only safe way to get the back on again is to use a watch press. This is an expensive tool that most jewelers will have. I strongly recommend you take it to a jeweler (may want to call first to make sure their company will do it because most chain stores will not work on most brands). They should not charge you.
If you are determined to do it yourself then you can try wrapping a wide pliers with duct tape or cloth and applying pressure on the front and back of watch to pop it on. WARNING: this is very dangerous for your watch. DO NOT apply pressure to the crystal, try to put the pressure on the stell lugs instead.
