No spark

sparkplug or a defect ignition coil, if the last option happens it is a very important that you should always note the serial number and year of age and the brand of the used engine because of marketing technical modifications can happen over time. it happened in practice too often that some people just give up the model and then come to decide that there is no spark coming from the spark plug.

Spring hook-ups throttle free design carb.

Spring goes from throttle air valve to plastic lever under flywheel. Cooling fan on flywheel provides pressure to open/close throttle. As engine (fan) speeds up, pressure on lever causes throttle to close. As engine slows, throttle will open. System achieves an equilibrium very quickly.

hope it helps!

I have a Briggs and

You parts manual is in the link below:
http://www4.briggsandstratton.com/ipl/pdfs/100/MS0669.pdf

Item 8 on the die of the engine is porting oil to your carb. Most of the time the reason for this is that someone seriously over-filled the engine with oil so as a crankcase breather it is shoving the excess oil out of the crankcase and into the carb throat. Hence your seeing massive smoke and the engine eventually dies out.

Re-check the engine oil level. There are 2 lines on the dip stick. The oil should NOT be above the upper line.

If the oil level is fine then remove the crancase breather from the side of the engine and submerse it a cleaning solvent. (I can not tell you to use gas but I do) Let it soak for quite a while (8 hours) And then clean it off with carb cleaner and re-install it.

I honestly think you have a simple case of too much oil in the engine. Adjust the oil level to the proper levels and try again. It will smoke for a couple of minutes while the residual oil id expelled but it should snap out of the current symptoms shortly there after.

If none of the above correct the problem just respond here and I will help you.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

FLYWHEEL REMOVAL

You need a flywheel puller tool. You can rent them at most auto parts stores for a few dollars a day. Be advised that flywheels can be very hard to remove, and can come off suddenly and violently when using a puller, keep your face away.

Model H80-155003 engine magneto has no spark.

Check the ignition cutout which should short the coil to ground to stop engine, isn't operating while you are cranking engine.
To check grounding, measure resistance from chassis to non chassis side of points.
This should be very low (= resistance of coil primary) and reduce further when points close.
