Remove drill bit from 18 volt drill

Put the dril in forward, hold the collar, and just bump the switch long enough to get the internal portion to turn. The bit will likely fall out at that point.Keyless chucks are make in a way that each of the jaws have an exposed heel that can grab onto larger bits that were inserted too far into the chuck.

I have a hitiachi DH38ye drill and it won't

you have me stumped on this one. The tool you have is a spline shank hammer and it should accept all standard spline bits and also hammer iron that is made for these. Is it possible that the Bosch bit has a burr on the splines not allowing it to lock? I have checked the Hitachi site and found no reason it would not work. I will continue checking though.

When I am using the

Assuming 115v hammer. When the hammer runs, look for sparks/ burning at the armature. When the brush/ springs get hot they will weaken and pull back enough to break contact with armature. Check brushes and armature for wear or damage. The bottom or part of the brush that makes contact with the armature should be shiny and smooth. The armature should also look smooth. If you see black /burning could be the end of the armature and if the brushes look burned and the wire/spring blue from overheating is an indication of serious problems. If you do not see sparks/ burning at armature, suspect switch. There are a lot of hitachi counterfit tools. Check your model number at www.toolpartsdirect.com for replacement parts. If you have counterfit tool, you may not be able to get parts (made in china). Good luck
