How do I change the blade on a Craftsman 10"

Hi Tom, W/D here. There are usually three different ways that blades are installed and/or removed. All require that the power be removed from the saw first (pull the plug, please).1. The most common method involves a shaft lock, so look for this first. It will appear as a button on the motor, near the blade. When you depress the button, you'll need to rotate the shaft/blade by hand until the lock sets in place in the shaft. Then, while still holding the shaft lock button down, use a wrench to loosen the blade. (Look at the threads to make sure that you are turning in the right direction, as this may be reverse threaded).2. Less common is a shaft that has an allen socket in the end of it. Place the loosening wrench on the not, then place the allen wrench in the end of the shaft.3. If all else fails, you can, VERY carefully, wedge the blade down into a piece of soft wood such as pine, then loosening the blade with a wrench. Make very sure that you keep all of your bodily parts out of the line of fire when using this method, as the blade can turn suddenly, and you don't want to have anything caught up and cut by the blade.Hope this helps, Best regards, --W/D--

Electronic brake not working

They basically disconnect the power and put a load across the motor which acts as a generator. This bleeds off the rotational energy. The key is to find what connects the load across the motor. This may be nothing more than a second set of contacts on your power switch. Look for that and any wires that have become disconnected.

The problem could be one of the following: 1) dull blade, in which case replace with a carbide-toothed blade2) underpowered or old/faulty electric motor3) faulty/worn belt, in which case replace with new belt4) The pulley on either the motor or the saw arbor (where the pulley attaches underneath the saw near blade) could be loose. Tighten down set screw.5) The saw fence isn't set straight causing the wood to jam as you push it into the blade. Check this with a framing square and readjust so it is at a 90-degree angle to the front of the saw table.

I have a 10" craftman

Hi,
Before doing anything else... take the belt off and check the bearings of the blade to make sure that both the motor and the blade spin freely...then replace the belt with a good quality belt to make sure you are getting maximum grip on the pulleys...
