Craftsman 10" Table Saw - Page 9 Questions & Answers
Having problem get blade off
Unplug the saw, first and foremost. Then see if your saw arbor has facets for a wrench behind the blade, and if so, try to find a slim wrench that fits there to hold the arbor while you attempt to loosen the arbor nut that holds the blad on. If that doesn't work, take a stick of wood, like a piece about 3/4" x 1 1/4" x 12-16" long, remove the throat plate from around the blade, wedge the stick between the blade teeth and the edge of the throat slot to hold the blade in place firmly, exerting levered force toward the center of the blade to hold it in place, and using the wrench, loosen the arbor nut. Make sure you are attempting to loosen in the correct direction. Depending which side of the blade the nut is on, some nuts are reverse threaded.Good luck.I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. I bought a Craftsman radial
You might want to have a look at some of the manuals available online at
this site. Perhaps there is something there of the same general vintage that will help you to answer your questions. I think there is some kind of stamped plate on the back of the saw, either on the column or the table base itself. I don't really remember, and mine is buried into a cutoff table and inaccessible. Otherwise, you could try looking up the motor model number at the sears online site at
www.managemylife.com. Good luck.I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread. If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!
My Craftsman 10-inch table saw
Hi pe43409,
Welcome to fixya!
Do you hear any humming when you press the switch? If not, I would check your switch for loose wires. If no loose wires, check the switch with a multimeter for continuity. For this you use the "ohm" setting. If you hear humming, please reply back. There would be something keeping the mechanisms or the motor from running, ie. sawdust.
If necessary, you can obtain a new switch at http://www.searspartsdirect.com
Just enter your model number in the search box and choose "model search" and a diagram with a parts list will open for you.
Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate your vote. Thanks,

Saw reset button keeps kicking after only a few
I would not think so, the reset is for thermal protection and I think that you have a problem with the motor stalling or under a heavy load. I would check to see how free the motor spins with being on. UNPLUG TOOL FIRST and turn blade by hand. Then to eliminate the dust bag remove it and just run the saw without cutting. Look into the throat plate area for a build up of debris that might be limiting movement.

you can either go to searspartsdirect.com and with your model number order this key or if problems go to managemyhome.com and you can download a breakdown with the part number and also generally an owners manual that will help. If you get back to me with the model number I will try and find the part number for you.

Check if the motor is not supposed to hinge and follow the table. Often the weight of the motor is used to apply the tension to the belt and your hinge points may have rusted and siezed up. Try some penetrant spray on the motor mounts and move it around to see if it will drop and tension the belt.
When I turn on the
With the blade and nut off the arbor, turn the motor on and VERY CAREFULLY turn or bump the arbor in the direction it is supposed to turn. If the motor spins up to speed you have a bad start capacitor. I have never been able to find start capacitors for Craftsman motors as a seperate part so you may have to replace the whole motor. Check with any local electrician shops first as they may have the capacitor you need.
Need specifications for craftsman table
