How do I change the blade on a 10" Craftsman table saw?
you need to grab the blade with something.maybe some pliers(if you are not going to refurbish blade) and loosen the nut in the center of the blade. i think it is a left hand thread(cw to loosen) because of the rotation of the blade. if the nut is on the left when looking from the front it is probably left handed. make sure it's unplugged and wear leather gloves so you don't get cut. install in reverse...

I have a Craftsman table saw with a burned out motor. The motor model number is RM871. Where can I find one for less that the $130.00 that Sears wants for the motor. That's the price of the saw.
SOUNDS LIKE THE PROBLEM I HAD, BUT WAS JUST A SEIZED-UP BEARING. I WENT TO LOCAL ELECTRIC MOTOR REPAIR ($15.74) PARTS AND LABOR, THEY REPLACED THE BEARING, THERE ARE 2 BEARINGS ON IT, COST IS THE SAME FOR EACH. THE BEARING IS PRESSED ON, SO REPLACEABLE. HOPE THIS HELPED

I need a new or used motor for a Craftsman table saw. The motor has the number RM871 on it. It is a 15 amp, 5000 rpm motor. Sears wants $141 for a replacement motor and I only paid $150 for the saw new. The rear bearing in my motor seized and it is rm 871 whats the deal same exact problem? Is this common or what? my saws model number is137.248830 serial number isrfz 3233 the motor is a 5000 rpm motor rm871 serial number 971614 my email is [email protected] Terry if you can help me I sure would love to know what im up against.
Sears no longer sells repair parts for this motor, only the whole motor as a replacement part, and it is $140.00, but you can buy replacement bearings from drillspot.com the bearing needed is an Enduro 6200 zz c3

Read Bearing on RM871 shot. Lightly used homeowner only.
The rear bearing is a 6200ZZ (sheilded); hope you didn't let it run too hot. I can't get this on off the shaft with heat and a bearing puller. Good luck!

I have the same problem. I tried to rip a pressure treated 2x10 at a 45 deg. angle and the motor siezed! I ran it slowly, but that didn't help. I tried finding a local electric motor shop that could rebuild it, but everyone told me it would cost more than the $140 that Sears wants for a replacement motor. FYI, if you replace the table saw with a more expensive model, that has a belt drive motor, it probably will last much longer and a local electric shop is sure to have an inexpensive replacement.
by seized is it burnt up or are the bearings just bad, the bearings are minimal but the field/armature would be more. Give me the model number and I will try and find a breakdown and let me know what we are looking for and I will try and help.

Power is getting to the on/off switch, but the motor will not start or make any kind of noise. Is there a most likely cause of this problem?
Model#137.248100/with stand
Check to make sure that the power is going though the switch. Check for power at the motor. If there is power going into motor, then the armature is probable shot.

I got this saw from a friend - who has since passed away - and he had the motor wiring (motor, capacitor, starting relay, reset button, and on-off switch) removed, so now I have no clue as to how to wire it back-up. I found a very poor (unreadable and incomplete) diagram so I'm looking for a better schematic or description of how it all hooks backup. Thanks!
Keep your model number handy and have a look around here. If you can't find the identical model, you may find one of similar vintage with a wiring diagram that will suit your needs.
Otherwise, you may have some luck at the sears support site, at www.managemyhome.com, though I have had poor results finding them there.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

My very old Craftsman 10" Table Saw does not power on. While rip cutting some plywood, I errored and caused the blade to bind. Before I was able to power off the saw, the motor stopped. I thought I had popped a circuit breaker, but did not. Power to the table saw was still hot, yet when I power on the table saw it does nothing -- it's dead. The RESET button also does nothing. Does this sound like a broken switch or the motor? Craftsman 10" Table Saw - Model #113.295752 Please advise how to fit or whether to get a new table saw.
Go to searspartsdirect.com and put in your model number. Look at the motor and wiring section. Look at item 16. The motor overload protector. (probably your reset button) WIth saw unplugged, unwire one sid of this switch and test with an ohm meter. You should read through the switch. If it is open then that's why the saw doesn't work. Many of this type of oveload requires quite a push to reset as you're flexing a klixon disc back to make contact. If is open and you can't reset, it's available there although a bit high priced.

I changed the switch on my craftsman 10" table saw. Dah ; thought I could remember where the wires connect, BUT I GUESS I CANT! can anyone tell me how /where the wires connect for saw model #137.248880on the reset button and the main switch. There is only 2 white and 2 black wires , the ground I know. thanks
Hi there.
Prior to plug it try this. From your 3 prong grounded plug trace it up to your saw were you should have a black and a white from the same wire's end.Now the two whites are probably from the reset that you haven't replaced?Write back to let me know if this is right and I'll proceed.
