Makita 2 Bl1830 18v Battery,dc18ra Charger Lxt Fr Drill - Page 4 Questions & Answers
Hi i have a makita charger that flashes red and
there is a problem with the charger and given the age I would take it to an authorized dealer and get a replacement. If you give me your general area I will try and locate one close to you. Please before voting if you need more assistance let me know. Thank you
One of my lithium batteries
Lithium batteries, like all rechargeable batteries have a limited life and can only be charged up fully a certain number of times before they build up resistance.
There is nothing in them that you can mend or refurbish. The only alternative is to buy a new battery.
Tha charger dont work
You will need an electric meter that checks everthing, first check for continuity, then voltage.
Red and green light flashing
If you put a battery on your charger and both red and green lights flash it is indicating that battery is defective. There may be a short in the battery or they just may be too old and worn out to charge anymore. If the charger is reading the battery as defective it will not charge the battery. The only fix is to buy new batteries.
Why does my battery not charge when put on the
Rechargeable batteries have a limited life determined by how many times they've been discharged & recharged and how old they are. On the charger there are lights and a chart to let you know what's going on with your battery. If it indicated the battery is defective, the charger won't even try to charge the battery and it needs to be replaced. If it goes through a recharge cycle and then lasts for a couple minutes or not at all the battery is used up and needs to be replaced. If none of the lights on your charger are working the problem may be the charger. The only way to test that is to have someone else with an LXT kit try to recharge your battery.

Why can't you buy the 230 volt DC18RA charger in europe (amazon.europe country) and use it. I had the same issue yet i burned out the fuse in the 110 volt DC18RA charger because i plugged it into the wall just using an adaptor. Lesson learned. Therefore, my first solution was that i bought a converter from 220V-to 110 Volt. This showed me that my charger was done. So instead of getting another 110 volt charger sent here to Europe from Canada, I returned the converter and have on order a 230 volt input DC18RA charger from amazon.de which has the same 7.2-18V output. I have been told this will work yet the fear, and I don't know why, is that it will burn out the batteries in a year or so. It is difficult getting specific information from Makita, but I hope it all works out. Best of Luck for you
Can the Makita BL 1830
You can try to put it in the freezer for 24 hours. When you remove it let it set at room temperature for at least a day before you try to recharge it. I don't understand why this works but I had someone reccomend this to me many years ago on my cell phone battery and it worked . I hope this helps you. Thanks
How can i fix my makita 18v battery
there is no fixing these batteries that i know of. they have an electronic chip in them among other electronics. the battery talks to the charger and vice versa. battery packs that can be worked on doesn't really save any money with all the aggrivation you go through.
Why does it flash green to red and not charging
it means the battery is broke :( had the same problem with two of mine, i took them apart and found two damaged cells in both, so managed to make one out of two so to speck. Problem is the pcb is telling the charger the bat is broke, seems you only get 2 goes when it flashes red/green something i didnt know,
So if you do manage to fix/replace the cells you'll probably end up with the same problem i've got now!
I've looked about but no one seems to know or everyone is keeping it to thereselves, but im sure there must be away.
I'm not sure if this helps you but just saying wot will happen next if you replace the damaged cells there are 10 in total 4volts each
Good luck
Charger not powering up, fuse is good?? what the
Internal board fuse checked? This may/may not help?
Makita 1850 battery charger FIX. A friend asked me to check his charger unit which had failed after it had been connected to a portable petrol generator that incorrectly generated 317 Volts AC and not the usual 240 Volt AC. On the charger circuit board next to the transformer wire connection is a component marked F2; this is a 2.5Amp fuse covered with heat-shrink sleeving. This fuse had ruptured/blown. Also blown was Transistor Q1, a ''P'' Mosfet labelled IRF9Z24N and Schottky Diode D9 labelled SR560. Replacing these 3 items got the charger working again. NB Resistor R31 is only 0.1ohm - don't assume it's gone short circuit! NB. I'd presume that most other Makita chargers will have this heat-shrink sleeving ''camoflaged'' fuse on the input of the circuit board and it would definitely be worth checking if the charger has stopped working.
