Polaris 380 sweep hose isn't

There are a few things to check with these pool cleaners. Make sure the opening at the end of the sweep hose is not blocked by the sweep hose scrubber. If you have any sweep hose weights, you might need to remove or adjust them.

If the pool cleaner does not cover the entire pool, check the hose length reaches within 6" of the farthest point of the pool. Set your thrust jet for 11:00 position. This will optimize random turning. If it is hanging on the stairs, check the pool cleaners wheel RPM. It should be between 28-32. Verify that the back-up valve is cycling.

Make sure that you don't have an obstruction in the drive shaft of the Polaris. These automatic pool cleaners will stop moving if they have the smallest thing caught in the drive shaft. You will also want to make sure that you are at between 28-32 RPM. You will need to adjust your water flow if the RPMs are too low.

Make sure that your hose length is long enough to cover the entire pool. This sounds like common sense, but it is often the problem. Make sure that your thrust jets are working properly. Turn the cleaner over while it is operating. You should see 3 distinct thrust jets. Check to see that they are all working. Remove the head float and shake it. If there is water in the head float, you will need to replace it. This is also a common problem with these pool cleaners.

Also check the skimmer basket and pump. Make sure they are functioning properly. Check all hoses, connections, and swivels for leaks that could be causing a lack of water pressure in these pool cleaners. Make sure that your wheel RPM is between 28 and 32. Increase the pressure to create more RPM.

My polaris 380 does not move in the water at all.

The belts need to be "snug" but not over tight. If your debris screen is clean and you are getting good flow through the cleaner with water, but it is still not moving, this is a drive issue. It appears you are confident in understanding the mechanics of your pool cleaner, this should not be a difficult task. Lets first troubleshoot the cleaner:
  1. With the Polaris turned off, spin each of the wheels. All wheels should turn together. If not, replace the Drive Belt.
  2. Check the filter screen in the Quick Disconnect and clean if necessary.
  3. Clean the skimmer basket, pump basket, and pool filter.
  4. Check the hoses, connections, and swivels for leaks that could cause loss of water pressure.
  5. Check the wheel RPM.

Lets Replace the Belts: (You'll need a screwdriver and replacement belts before you get started) OR you can take your cleaner into a local pool supply store and have them install the belts for you!
  1. Remove the bag from the pool pump. Disconnect the collar of the bag from the feed house on the pump. Push in on the metal prongs to release the bag.Find and remove the four screws that are used to secure the frame to the base of the unit with a screwdriver.Lift up on the frame while pulling back at a 45-degree angle. Lift the frame off the base and set it aside.Push on the front belt while turning the wheel to disengage the belt from the pulley. Repeat this process for the rear belt. Take the belts out and set them aside.Place the new belts over the axle block shafts.Push the front belt onto the pulley while turning the wheel to put the front belt back on the pump. Repeat this step for the rear belt.Set the frame back in place on the base of the pump. Secure the frame by tightening the screws with the screwdriver.Attach the bag onto the pool pump and connect it to the collar to complete the project.

Our polaris isn't moving along the pool. There is

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

The hole you speak of should have a threaded cover in it that is used to regulate how much pressure reached the cleaner at the end of the line. If your cap is missing essentially all the water is bypassing the hose and returning to the pool. The replacement part, should you need it, is called the pressure relief valve. You'll need to know which model you have for certain as the part differs from one unit to the next. If you do indeed have a 380, the number is 91009002 for just the valve or 91009001 for the UWF (Universal Wall Fitting) Connector Assembly. If none of the parts are missing simply tighten the valve at the hole to increase water flow down to the cleaner.

If this answer does not fix your problem, please comment with additional details prior to rating the answer. Positive feedback is appreciated once your problem is solved!

Unit seems to be nose down position

With these pool cleaners, this is a common and easily corrected problem. Check the following things. First, make sure that the filter bag is not full. If it is, it could be weighing down the cleaner on one side. Next, remove the head float and shake it. If there is water in the float, you will need to replace it. This is most likely the cause of your problem. Finally, check the hose floats to make sure that they are evenly spaced and are not causing the cleaner to float improperly.

380 does not move, belts

There are a lot of moving parts in these cleaners. They are simple if your familiar with them, but can be overwhelming if your not used to working on them. First of all make sure your pressure is good. pressure line could be clogged, pump impeller clogged, or inline filter (if there is one) can get clogged. Assuming pressure is ok, if you take the cleaner apart, there are bearings, and gears that can bind up if they're worn out. Also if the wheels and wheel mounts are worn the wheels can rub and effect the performance. This alone shouldn't stop it, but in combination with other worn parts it can. Obviously the belts worn out, broken, or if they're off will stop the cleaner but you said they are ok. There area number of small houses and slip ties that hold them inside the cleaner that distribute water where needed if the are broken come off, or leaking, that can stop the cleaner as well. How old is your cleaner? if it's more than a couple years (maybe even a year) there are several parts that can wear and need replacement. If the above information doesn't get you back on track. I suggest you take the cleaner into a local pool shop. They will be familiar with it, should inspect it and replace any parts you buy for free.

Staying in backup mode-don't know where the

The backup valve is the white plastic unit in the hose that looks like an acorn. There is no adjustment to control if or when it backs up. this is all done through predetermined timing in a set of gears. If the unit is stuck backing up, you probably just need to replace the backup valve. You can take the old one apart, but this can be very hard to sometimes, and you may damage it trying. sometimes a piece of debris can cause the gears to stick, and there is a small gear that sometimes actually comes lose. But aside from that it'll need to be replaced.

Machine keeps going around in

Few different things can cause this. Wheel bearings can be bad, tires worn, teeth on gears inside wheels stripped or broken, or the teeth on drive shaft worn or broken. Low pressure or clogged line can also cause to run sparatic, but not necessarily in circles. Most likely problem is with bearings, or wheels. Check these closely for problems. Most pool stores with check it and replace parts (that you purchase) for free.

380 unit floats to the top, doesn't move around

Check the following three things. One of these should correct the problem you are having with your automatic pool cleaner.

1. Confirm that the blue
restrictor disk is installed in
the UWF to decrease water
flow. Or, install the red
restrictor disk to decrease
water flow even more.

2. Check the wheel RPM. If
more than 32 RPM, unscrew
the pressure relief valve to
decrease water flow
to cleaner. Note: The
pressure relief valve should
only be adjusted when a
restrictor is installed.

3. Verify the back-up valve is
cycling. Hold the valve out of
the water and watch the jet.
It should come on and go off.

Wheels turn at 8 rpmsand don't turn at all

If your RPMs are less than 28 in these automatic pool cleaners, you have a problem. Try troubleshooting by doing the following checks. Check the filter screen in the in line filter for debris that would restrict water flow. Clean teh skimmer, filter, and pump baskets. Check the hoses, connections, and swivels for leaks. Remove the blue restrictor disk from the UWF. If you ahve an adjustable valve on your booster pump, try setting in completely open.

My no flow light is on and the polaris won't move

Check all of your hoses, connections, and swivels to make sure that you do not have a leak. Also, check for obstructions in all filter baskets, pumps, debris chambers to make sure that nothing is obstructing the flow. You might also need to increase or reposition your thrust jets. These are pretty common problems with these automatic pool cleaners.

My pool cleaner doesnt move when switched on

First, check the filter screen and in line filter to be sure that they are not clogged. If they are, cleaning them will probably remedy the problem. Next, make sure the skimmer basket, pump basket, and pool filter are not blocked/clogged. With these automatic pool cleaners, that is most often the problem, surprisingly enough. Check all of your hoses, connections, and swivel for leaks that could cause a lack of water pressure. Finally, make sure that your wheel RPM is functioning properly and is at the recommended number of rpms.

Hello I have a polaris

It sounds like the water could be getting over heated. Has the temperature of the hot water out of a tap gone way up? (a meat thermometer should be in the right range to measure this by flowing just hot water into a container and measuring the temperature of the water in it.) Be very careful, it sounds like it could well be very very hot. Check the heating element and the thermostat. In case if you notice any water coming out of pressure relief valve then its faulty or loose valve. 2 possibilities To much pressure and its causing the relief valve to open in compensation The valve is defective and needs to be replaced. If the valve checked out faulty or cracked.IT has to be replaced.Cost of new valve is near to $7.Click this link to buy the valve. http://www.bestbuypoolsupply.com/polaris-380-parts.html
Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.
