The drive petal went loose. mower will not move
Sounds like your motion contol linkage has disconnected itself. Depending on your tractor, this will either be a cable, or a metal rod.
In some rare cases the motion contol is engage by taking the slack out of drive belt by manipulating the position of an idler pulley. If this is the case... check for belt breakage (it may employee 2 belts, 1 for drive, and one for the blades).

MTD 618-04907A Transmission stuck in reverse
Here are a few things you can check to troubleshoot why your TroyBilt riding mower is stuck in reverse:
- Check the transmission fluid level. The transmission fluid level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick. If the fluid level is low, add the specified type and amount of fluid.
- Check the transmission fluid for leaks. If the transmission fluid is leaking, it could be causing the transmission to slip. Repair any leaks and refill the transmission fluid.
- Inspect the transmission linkage. The transmission linkage is a series of cables and rods that connect the transmission lever to the transmission. If the linkage is damaged or misadjusted, it could be causing the transmission to stick in reverse. Inspect the linkage for damage and make sure it is properly adjusted.
- Inspect the transmission gears. The transmission gears are responsible for transferring power from the engine to the wheels. If the transmission gears are damaged, it could cause the transmission to stick in reverse. Inspect the transmission gears for damage and replace any damaged gears.
If you have checked all of these things and the mower is still stuck in reverse, you may need to take it to a qualified mechanic for further diagnosis and repair.
Here are some additional tips for troubleshooting transmission problems:
- When diagnosing a transmission problem, it is important to check the fluid level and for leaks first. Low fluid levels or leaks can cause the transmission to slip, which can lead to other problems.
- If the fluid level and for leaks are okay, then you can start inspecting the transmission linkage and gears. The linkage should be properly adjusted and the gears should not be damaged.
- If you find that the linkage or gears are damaged, then you will need to replace them. You can also try adjusting the linkage if it is not properly adjusted.
- If you have checked all of the above and the mower is still stuck in reverse, then you may need to take it to a qualified mechanic for further diagnosis and repair.

The transmission is pre-lubricated and sealed at the factory. It requires no checking unless the transmission is disassembled. To fill with grease, lay the right half of the transmission on its side, add 22 ounces of Benalene 920 grease, and assemble the left half to it. This grease can be obtained at your nearest authorized dealer by ordering part number 737-0300.
