Clavia Nord Stage 88 - Digital Stage Piano NS88 Questions & Answers
Hi there,
I have a Nord
What has happened is that one of the contacts on those notes is not working properly. Each key has two contacts. One makes before the other as the key is pressed. The processor MEASURES the time between those as you hit the key to read the VELOCITY you have hit the key with. This velocity is often used for loudness on many voices such as the piano. These contacts are USUALLY conductive rubber pills suspended in silicone rubber "domes". One can disassemble the key area and clean BOTH the black rubber pills and the circuit traces they are pressed against using Q Tips and ONLY 99% isoprophyl alcohol to restore proper operation
One needs to be very careful when disassembling unit as there are many tender ribbon cables and connectors. Best to have clear work area and two people to "control" the halves of the shell while opening..
The after touch sensitivity on
Here is a link to their support where you can download the latest operating system, manual etc.:http://www.clavia.se/main.asp?tm=Support Consider joining the forum. There are always helpful members who quite likely have experienced some of the same problems. You didn't mention if that happens when you play piano, organ or synth as the setting changes you make can affect each differently. Here is a link to the download page for Windows:http://www.nordkeyboards.com/main.asp?tm=Downloads&cldwn=Nord_Stage_EX&osdwn=osw Here is the one for Mac:http://www.nordkeyboards.com/main.asp?tm=Downloads&cldwn=Nord_Stage_EX&osdwn=osx Pages 61 and 62 of the manual are good starting places. Aftertouch can be assigned to different functions. You will need to read Morph Assign also on page 60. Page 33 explains Velocity Sensitivity which is different from Aftertouch. If the Aftertouch is not giving you enough control over a parameter, try using the Wheel or a pedal for that parameter instead. Here is a link to the manual:http://www.nordkeyboards.com/downloads/manuals/nord%20stage/Nord%20Stage%20EX%20Manual%20v6.x%20%28eng%29.pdf The Factory Reset function is on page 68.
Nord keys not making sound
This will have the weighted keys.
The contacts for the dead keys are dirty and have to be cleaned. This type keyboard is NOT DIY unless you are adept at electronics. The actual contacts are accessable after a lot of dis-assembly.
They are conductive rubber that is pressed against circuit traces on circuit board.
Use ONLY 99% isoprophyl alcohol and QTips to clean both the contact and the circuit traces they press against. Clean ALL the contacts when you have the unit open as others are sure to become inoperative as well.
When I plug the sustain pedal in, it remains on
Try testing your switch for function by testing it with a volt ohm meter to make sure the cord and switch are functional. In this case if it is the recommended foot switch it will be momentary on or off. That is if you are using your meter to test across the plug, when you press down you should have no resistance displayed if there was resistance when you connected the probes or resistance displayed if there was none when you originally connected the probes. If the switch is good, your problem is internal to the keyboard and you will have to troubleshoot the circuit on the board. Another possibility is the solder joint has failed where the sustain pedal jack is mounted or the jack itself has failed.
System crashed
no buttons or knobs
its the problem of internal control panel board.on the front of the unit.either the connection of wires internally is got loose or the panel is internally got short.you will have to check the fault before proceeding as it can be onlt\y wires getting cut in the front control panel board or the faulty control panel board.
This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

The most likely case is that one of the main output transistors (if which there are many) is shorted. When the protect circuit senses DC on the final output, it will not allow the output relay to come on to protect the speakers from raw DC. With the power removed, you can check between each outputs Emitter and Collector and you will probably find close to zero ohms. From that point you need to unsolder each of the pins of the bad channel until you find the shorted device(s) and replace them.

No or very little sound from Fender passport
Depending on the model, there are four around that date, it could be the insert jacks are tarnished reducing the signal flow between the pre amp stage and digital power amplifier. It could be the power amplifier has failed. It could even be customer error in wiring.
This assumes there is the correct level of signal entering the input sockets of course.

Breaking Roland RD 600 hammers
The Roland RD-600 is a digital piano, and its hammer action mechanism is designed to simulate the feel of an acoustic piano. The hammers in digital pianos like the RD-600 are typically made of materials like plastic or a combination of materials to replicate the weighted feel of acoustic piano keys.
The breaking of hammers in a digital piano is not a common issue, and it's not typically related to the age of the instrument alone. Several factors could contribute to the breakage of hammers, and it's essential to consider the following possibilities:
- Excessive Force: If the keys are played with excessive force or if there's any physical damage to the instrument, it could lead to the breakage of hammers.
- Material Quality: The quality of materials used in the construction of the hammers can impact their durability. If the hammers are made from subpar materials, they may be more prone to breaking.
- Manufacturing Defects: In some cases, there could be manufacturing defects that make the hammers more susceptible to breakage.
- Maintenance: Lack of proper maintenance, such as cleaning and regular inspection, may contribute to the wear and tear of components, including hammers.
If you've observed a pattern of hammers breaking with regularity, it might be worth investigating the specific cause. If it's due to excessive force or physical damage, adjusting playing habits and taking care during transport can help mitigate the issue.
As for whether it's worth purchasing new hammers from Roland, it depends on the extent of the damage and the overall condition of the instrument. If the RD-600 is in good condition otherwise and you enjoy playing it, replacing the hammers could be a reasonable option. However, you may want to assess the cost of replacement hammers compared to the overall value of the instrument, factoring in the cost of a used RD-600 and any potential future maintenance needs.
