How do I retrieve message when away from my home
Simply call home using a touch-tone phone:
While listening to the answering machine greeting,
key in your chosen Remote Code using the keypad
on your calling phone and your new messages will
be played for you.
The Remote Code was chosen via a handset at home:
press [menu]
scroll to "Ans. Setup"
press [select]
scroll to "Security Code"
press [select]
enter the two-digit code of your choice,
press [select] ( chirps ) press [END]
Remote *management* of the answering machine is
further described in the owners' manual. To obtain
a replacement manual, you'll need the precise model
number of your phone: this is found on a small sticker
underneath the battery inside the handset. Take this
model number (eg, D1680) to
www.manualslib.com
and you can download a free copy of the manual.
Good luck!
My phone does not ring!!!! Everything else seems to be ok but does Not Ring
Perhaps the ringer is merely turned "off" ?
On the D1680, D1481, and similar phones,
the three levels of ringer loudness plus
"off " are set at the base using the same
[ + ] Volume [ - ] buttons used to adjust
the answering machine message volume.
Pushing the [ + ] and [ - ] keys will
set the ringer to be louder or softer. A
number in the "message counter display"
will report the relative loudness...pushing
[ - ] below level-1 loudness will show
"0" loudness and an announcement of
"Ringer off" will be spoken. From here,
a single push of [ + ] will turn the ringer
on to level-1 and play a ~10 second
sample of the ringer at that volume:
while it is playing the sample ring,
subsequent pushes of [ + ] or [ - ]
will toggle the loudness levels of
( off, 1, 2, 3 ).
OR perhaps you have entered "Silent Mode" ??
The easiest way out of "Silent Mode" is to just turn
[ OFF ] the Answering Machine, then turn it back [on].
(( use the [ANS on/off] button on the base, do not
unplug anything... ))
Good luck!
It rings a long time, then asks for a code number, no matter who is calling.
This sounds like a "full memory" situation: the answering
machine only has a ~12-minute capacity.
When the message memory is full, it cannot pick up and
take a new message ( ...its limited space is full...)
Ringing ~10 rings is an indicator to you, the owner,
calling in to check messages that it is full. It asks the
caller for the Remote Access Code so the caller (you)
can listen to & manage ( DELETE !) some messages.
Basically, you just need to clean up the answering
system by deleting old messages...all should return
to normal then.
Good luck!
Answering light keeps flashing when theres no messages
That might be the Voice Mail Warning Indicator.
On the D1680 and similar handsets, it is reset by:
1. press [menu]
2. scroll down to "Global Setup", press [select]
3. scroll down to "VMWI Reset", press [select]
4. scroll down from "No" to "Yes", press [select]
5. handset will chirp, blinking lamp goes out,
6. press [END]
Other models, check your manual. The model number
is on a small sticker under the battery in the handset --
enter this number at
www.manualslib.com to get a free
copy of the User's Manual.
Good luck!
System does not work. What does the E0 message mean on the base?
Hello ,
Try swapping the ram in the slots, or testing one stick at a time.
If the above solution didn't work for you check below
"E0" error to be fixed by swapping the DVI cable's position from the mobo port to the graphics card's port, Make sure your cpu cooler fan is connected to the cpu fan header. If non of these sulotions worked for you, make sure your sticks are seated all the way back. Also try using different sticks, if you have any lying around. Or borrow some from your friends.
Hope one of these work for you
Can't turn the ringer on to notify when a call is coming in.
Without the model, I can't be sure of the method you need to enable the ringer.
Some Uniden phones toggle on a Silent Mode if you press and hold the # key (below 9 on the keypad) for 3+ seconds on one handset. When turned on, the phone will ask how long (1-9 hours) you want the ringer to be disabled for the handset. If no key is pressed within 5 seconds, the handset will not ring until the # key is pressed and held again.
Other Uniden phones have a Do Not Disturb mode. This disables the ringer on all handsets. To disable this, press and hold the DND button on the base. The answering system will be turned on if it isn't already on when DND is in use.
The other options to mute the ringer include the volume down on the handset when the phone is in standby. Some phones will also adjust the ring tone volume in the menu.
I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the model of your phone for additional information.

I looked at the manual, and there doesn't seem to be a way to un-mute the mic. On other models, the Menu button is also the Mute button.. The only thing I saw that might be the cause is the following:
If this only happens on one of the handsets, did you register that handset? It must sit in the base cradle for 20 seconds before it's registered:
NOTE: In case of a power failure lasting more than 5 minutes, you must put both handsets on the main base cradle for 20 seconds to re-register.
