1986-1997 Nissan Pickup Side View Mirror Questions & Answers
Troubleshoot no start condition
The gear(park, rev,n,d) shifter position sensor switch for 'no start' problem. Side mirror will be cable to mirror. Have a nice day.
Engine just will not warm up to operating temp. (I believe) Outside temp is avg.40F. Takes for ever to get heat in cab.
Going on the description about your having a Nissan pick-up in the v
vintage of 1886-1997, here is an answer.
The very most likely answer is that you have either no thermostat or the thermostat that is in your engine has failed, and is stuck in the open position.
In any event, remove the thermostat housing and look inside, and add a new thermostat.
Thermostats come in different heat ranges, but when you buy one, go with the factory recommended one.
If you have not done this before, be sure to bleed the air out of your system before you drive the truck
God bless your efforts.
Troubleshoot mass air flow sensor
Why do you think the MAF is the problem? More likely the throttle body is dirty and the throttle blade is not closing all the way, with the result that the Idle air control cannot do its job.
My wiper motor appears to be working but wipers are not moving as though something is stripped
Hi. If you can hear the wiper motor operating but the wipers aren't moving you will need to follow the linkage. often the splines where the wiper arms fasten to the wiper mechanism can come loose or strip the internal splines. you would need to test the tightness of the fixing nuts at the base of the wiper arms, they should be fairly tight. there is a similar set up between the wiper motor and wiper mechanism that again could be loose or stripped. I would advise ensuring the ignition is off or battery disconnected before you test these nuts as if they operate whilst your fingers are in there it will hurt like hell and probably make a mess.
My wiper motor appears to be working but wipers not moving as though something is stripped can you help?
Hi Showdog:
If you can see the shaft that comes out of the wiper motor, see if it is loose inside the linkages that connects it to the Wiper lever. They can be connected by a screw or nut and washer.
The wiper motor continuously rotates in one direction. A cam and slot device convert that rotary motion to an oscillating movement.
If the motor is running and the output shaft is not oscillating, something is broken. This could have happened if something prevented the wipers from moving when they were turned on. Snow or ice maybe?
Hope this helps.
Knock upon throttle
Hi Nick, that's not a lot of information to go on.
My best guess is that if the sound is a thud/knock low in the engine under load you may have at least one worn big end bearing, particularly if this motor is either high mileage or has a poor service and use history.
In a high compression motor this can sometimes be accompanied by a 'tick' sound in the top end, which in non technical terms is Mr piston saying G'day to Mr Valve!
There is no easy fix but in the short term you MAY get some relief using a heavier grade engine oil. If it is the big end it might be diagnosed further by low engine oil pressure, particularly just how fast it drops to zero when you shut the engine down, it should take a second or two not instantaneously. connect a quality oil pressure gauge to check. If it is a big end bearing DONT drive it till it all falls apart as major engine damage WILL result, often a conrod slamming a hole in the engine block which writes off the whole motor.
Big End Bearings can often be replaced by a knowledgeable workshop done in car by just lifting the engine slightly and removing the sump as a cheaper alternative to an out of car rebuild or engine swap..
Good luck

Know if my fuel pump is out
Can you hear the pump run? Do you have fuel pressure? Do you have power to the pump but it does not run? Very common failure I'm afraid.
