Miele 9820 dryer has check

I am adding some pictures to help with the resetting of the thermostat. It is actually much easier if you pop open the top and remove three screws on the top side of the left panel in addition to the three in the back. That way you get more room to work with.Hope it helps.1_22_2012_8_27_01_pm.jpeg1_22_2012_8_27_25_pm.jpeg1_22_2012_8_28_04_pm.jpeg1_22_2012_8_28_35_pm.jpeg

Cant get the clean filter

Think of this as a "low airflow" indicator. I know it says clean filter, but this error code is triggered when the temperature gets too high in the air duct sensor at the front of the machine as compared to the sensor at the rear of the machine. the most likely cause is a dirty filter. if you use dryer sheets, the fine mesh can get clogged with paraffin wax. if you hold your filter up to the light, and it looks cloudy and clogged, clean it in hot water to dissolve the paraffin.
if the light still comes on, check to make sure your ducting is not clogged and that the flapper door on the outside of your house where the duct exits is clear and that it opens when the dryer is running. you may need to unplug the dryer if the clean filter light is on and wont go off. plug it back in and try to run it.

I am getting a LOUD

disconnect your duct from it temporarily. see if the grinding noise goes away. Some installers are using the foil flex duct on these dryers and it makes a horrible noise. it sounds like marbles rattleing in a coffee can. It is called cavitation. it should be connected with semi ridgid 4 inch ducting, that comes in 3 foot sticks, not the slinky looking stuff that comes in a small box.
to remove the lid, take a dental pick or a sharp knife, pry out the two oval plugs on each side of the lid to expose the t 20 lid screws. loosen each screw 10 turns and push in on the screws. this will disconnect the hidden clamps. do not remove the screws. you will drop the clamps in the bottom of the dryer. you have been warned. if the lid will not lift up after 10 turns, go another turn or two, but check often by lifting the lid. when you have released the clamps enough, lift the lid up and push it back towards the wall three inches. now remove the lid.

Check filter/vent lights are on. we have cleaned

there is a sensor below the lint screen, it has two screws, and this may have a film on it from the dryer sheets. The easiest and safest way to clean is take it apart(the dryer) gently/lightly wipe the sensor off. Be careful not to damage it, Good Luck Tim

Our Miele dryer gives a clicking sound each turn

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

The clicking sound that you hear can be caused either by the timer going bad or the electronic board itself has gone bad. As the dryer works when in hold mode the problem can be with door switch or the motor relay. There are some tests involved that should be done in order to verify which part has gone bad, so you know its always better to get this checked by a tech. so to avoid any add on charges. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

How do I replace the drum belt on a miele 9820

Hi

To replace the drum belt on a miele dryer you can follow this procedure--

1. Remove the front panel.2. Slide a putty knife between the front panel and the top near a corner. Lift the corner and repeat on the other side. 3. To remove the lower panel, insert the putty knife between the panel and each side. Then twist to release clip.4. Reach underneath drum and behind motor to locate idler pulley. Push idler pulley to left to release drum belt tension. Remove the belt from the motor pulley.5. Loosen the screws that secure the bottom of the front panel to the dryer sides. Do not completely remove the screws.6. Remove the drum and belt from the cabinet.

Hope this helps... If it does please do not forget to accept the solution or post back for assistance.

Miele 9820 gas dryer not heating

These are the standard things to check out a gas Dryer that is not heating.
If you feel confident!
Trained people like myself make mistakes too but it usually happens when we get too friendly with what we are doing and become complaisant. It can really be bad if a non trained person is jumpy and doesn’t know safety about when or what is suppose to be happening first, second… Or how to arrive at what should be happening and it isn’t. But at this point if your jittery and don’t feel confident, stop and let someone trained handle the rest.

Key to all modern flame (fossil fuel) appliances is a need for ignition. The 2 most common ways to ignite the flame are:
1 Spark (where there is a spark generator that when directed to the area of the flam ignite the main burner or in some cases a pilot flame) and,
2 Direct ignitions, which most commonly uses a silicone or nitride igniter that glows brightly to ignite the flame.

Common to both of these ignition systems is:
Safety first: always a way to prove that the flame is there and burning.

Here after I will address mostly the Hot Surface Ignition (the orange or direct type of ignition), because the spark ignition type of units have been phased out.

Do you get a "glow" the glow (orange in color) is for the gas to be ignited.

No glow indicates the igniter either has a no voltage problem or the igniter is burned out.

No power should flow to the gas valve if you have no igniter. However, you may smell gas and have no igniter intermittently. This can be normal as some safety systems will allow the gas to flow to the igniter area for a few tries at ignition before locking the valve off.. To be safe always turn off the gas to the appliance, burner, or at the gas valve. I will assume you know how to do this if you don’t then let someone trained handle the rest.
If your ready to proceed:
Confirm power to the gas valve area 110V usually and keep in mind that the dryer has to be running at this point on most all dryers. There is little reason for the burner to come on if the dryer is not running, right?
If you have voltage to the gas valve area check the voltage at the ignition directly. Just to be sure your not in a lock out, mode remove power from the appliance for 2 to 3 minutes reapply power and restart and try the dryer (still with gas off). If no power still to the gas valve/igniter there the problem is somewhere other than the area your in. If you have voltage the problem is probably the igniter. The next step would be to check the voltage to the igniter terminals. Voltage there is almost a guarantee the igniter is out. Look for the way the ignition was installed originally and reverse the process getting the igniter in hand so you can be sure you get the correct one for replacement. It may come out in pieces just take all of them you can to keep the area clean. And vacuum opr blow out the rest with compressed air.

If you don't have 110 Volts the problem is in the controls. The electronic ignition safety board, fuse link, the timer contacts, the centrifugal switch on the motor, and the heater safety thermostat and operating (s), are all suspect and have to be eliminated 1 by 1. If you check all the controls and have power to the Ignition board where it is suppose to be with it running then it must be out. Other wise you will have to jump around each safety/control to verify which one is open. Also you may have top stop and restart the drier for each component test to keep from locking out the safety on the ignition board.

Clean the duct out while replacing the igniter if so because the main thing that causes igniter burn out is low air flow. A kinked Dryer vent hose, lint, and plugged up fan circulator on the motor, or if yours has little holes in the inside cabinet where the air is taken to be heated and recirculated, these can get clogged with lint also and cause a problem are the 4 main causes of low air flow..

Hope this helps. With any luck all you need is a new igniter
Thank you and good luck.

I just had the softwear

Hi.

Try holding down reset for several seconds. If that does not work, then there is a problem with sensitivity settings of the signal from the two sensors in the air duct. Call Miele and insist to get a tech at home, the problem is not your fault.

Here a discussion on the same issue.

Pop the top miele t9820 dryer gas

Open the door, at the top of the recessed door opening you will see two round plastic caps. Remove these and you will see screw behind that you have to remove. Some models the caps are on the right and left hand sides. Slide the top towards the back after removing screws and the top will lift off. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists
