Chances are it is a bad thermal fuse. On the electric models only, if the fuse is open (check, for continuity with a multimeter), the unit will not operate at all.

I have fixed this problem many times for my customers.Ninety percent of the time it is a bad high limit thermostat which means it is getting way too hot and can be dangerous. In most cases i would try to tell people how to fix the problems on their own,but since this can be dangerous i suggest a professional.my company is named Mechanical mobile services and the number is 443-791-0895.We can offer you same day service.

How and what do I have to remove to be able to

1st, you'll have to remove the top section that has the controls by removing the screws from the back that attach it to the main body of your machine. Then, you should find the screws or other devices that keep your lid attached to the machine, and be able to remove it, gaining access to that "hidden switch".

Kenmore washer dryer age?

The age is determined by the SERIAL number. If you post back with each appliance serial number, I can tell you what year they were manufactured. Include any letter designations that are in the serial number too.

Kenmore 600 dryer timer

Make sure you're getting power to the unit. IE breaker, wall outlet is good. Then check your vent to see if it's clogged. Afterwards, check the thermal fuse in the back by taking the back off and unplugging it. Its the white peg. Look up a video on youtube on how to check one.

Dryer is only 5 yrs old. Started to blow cool

There is a device in the circuitry for the heating element which shuts off power to the heating element when the dryer gets above a certain temperature which is ealsily reached with a clooged vent hose. This device, a thermal limit switch or thermal fuse, cannot be reset, it has to be replaced.

If you want to do this yourself, let me know -- if not, you will need to arrange for someone to repair the dryer. The device costs about $20 -- a service tech will probably charge up to $150 for the repair.

No heat but dryer runs fine? how can i fix it

Hi

The first thing to check is the fuses or breakers in your homes fuse box. If this fuse is blown, it is possible for your dryer to spin but not produce heat. If you've checked the fuses and they are not blown, the next possible cause is the heating element. To check the heating element, move the back panel of the dryer. You'll need a volt/ohmmeter to check the element terminal. Locate the element and set the volt/ohmmeter on the RX-1 scale. Remove one lead from the element and then place one probe of the volt/ohmmeter on the terminal of the element. Place the other probe of the volt/ohmmeter on the remaining terminal of the element. Look for a continuity reading of the volt/ohmmeter of approximately 2-5 ohms. If there is no continuity reading, the heating element is defective and should be replaced. Also clean the lint filter every time you use the dryer. Even if the lint filter is cleaned after every load, lint will still accumulate around the dryer's moving parts, the exhaust duct and vent. Each year inspect the vent pipe and vent cover operation. Disconnect the exhaust duct and remove lint from the internal exhaust pipe, the duct and the vent. Make sure the duct has no kinks, where lint and moisture can build-up.Turn off the power; remove the front and rear panels and vacuum out the lint from around the motor and idler. Poor air flow uses more energy and can cause lint build-up in the internal ducting, leading to a fire hazard.

I have a Kenmore elite dryer. I just ran a load

It appears your timer/main controller/CCU has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question(((())))
