Vizio lcd sreen fading out.
Well time will tell if this is a true solution but I experienced the same issue. Originally I was able to get the TV to work by turning it off and back on.
After some research I notice the the Vizio FAQ mentions a similar issue for which the solution is to unplug the unit for 3min.
After calling Vizio, they suggested that under the menu option Setup, Picture, Advanced Video Features, I should try turning off Advanced Adaptive Luma and Backlight Control.
Suddenly no picture only a
Look through the ventilation slits at the back of the TV with the room lights out. If you do not see white light light bleeding through the back, you have a back light failure. It could be the inverter circuit which lights up the CCFL ( cold cathode fluorescent lamp ). You will need professional help to replace it and could cost you about 70 to 100 $ to fix.
When volume is up, there is a humming sound.
The sound is the mains frequency, it's not filtered enough because the filtering capacitors have aged. Very simple fix - just replace the capacitors, it's a 15 minute job. Just make sure the replacements are identical and the solderings are well done.

You can zoom in on the picture. But you are most likely watching a movie formatted for wide screen. There are different formats of DVD's. Hope it helps.
37 Vizio shtting down at random
Can you list the modules that were replaced thus far without resolving the problem? Also, what exactly is the problem? Does the set work sometimes and not others?

TV made a poping noise and the screen went dark.
a capacitor on the DM or convergance board has fried and will need to be replaced. You can use a multi-tester or capacitor tester to test each one. Also look for black burn marks and swelled or black capacitors
