Hello,
All plasma an lcd tvs have boards that control vertical and horizontal output to their respective areas. They are connected to the screen by ribbon cables. If one of these boards fails all together, has a failed chip, a bad connection, or a bad ground somewhere it will result in a black line in the area of that board. A bad ribbon cable connection on the bottom will result in a vertical black bar though the screen. Many times reseating the connection will fix it, if the ribbon cable has been nicked there could be a severed connection. They can sometimes be fixed, but it is a pain. An yes I have done it, and the bar is gone. The same will happen if the chip that outputs to that area opens. The connectors are the first place to look paying close attention to the cable, they are extremely delicate so great care must be taken if you decide to tinker with em, the usually have lift locks that release them, but it is very easy to wreck em.
Good luck.

I suggest you do firmware update first, then you can use another source such as a DVD plug in to the same HDMI input when the problem appear, to make sure where is the problem, if it is the on the TV, replace the main board.

Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. From what
you have described it seems that you
might have a backlight and/or an inverter board issue with this TV set. It
could also be due to the inverter circuits for the backlights. The
inverter is the power supply source for the backlights. There could
also be a screen driver problem; if it is then you have to change the entire inverter
board. All this is only recommended if you have some kind of expertise for
checking the internal circuitry of the TV as these units have high voltages
running even when the set is switched off. The cost to change the inverter
board including labor would be around $250, if you get this done by a
professional. Please do accept the solution if the issue is
resolved or else revert for further assistance.
Thanks

My lcd tv blinks when I turn it on
This is not a solution but a bandaid to a problem. My 27" does the same thing. Turn off the computer restart the monitor and leave in a blue screen. May have to try more than once. Start the computer in safe mode. Select change resolution to a lower level and set the Hz at 59. The softer start will not overload the system. I think the unit has a combination of problems...1- it is a piece of **** and 2- I have noticed Microsoft's updates are changing you operating system drivers a little at a time. So much so my old HP pavillion is not recognized by HP's unit recognition program. I just spent the last12 hours redown loading the original drivers for my Compac PC that runs Windows7. All the nvida, amd, and other programs have been change to Microsoft generic drivers. Go figure..........

My Regza 42
Try unpluggung it for 30 minutes and try again. If it is still bad, the power supply will be the first place to check.
The *audio cuts out occasionally on my 42 INCH
Try using the Audio line out RCA jacks feeding a PC powered speakers to see if it does the same thing, If it is OK, then the problem will be in the power amp sections that drive the speakers.
The screen goes complete blank with sound still
I had this problem on my 42" Philips. Just got it yesterday and worked fine on the tv stand. As soon as I mounted the TV to the wall via wall mount system, I had the exact same issue you did. Figured it out today.
The wall mount was putting pressure against the center of the back of the tv (tv set had a slightly rounded back plate, and the mount was a flat plate). As soon as I put spacers (part of the wall mount hardware set) between the wall mount braket and the tv so there was no contact except at the mounting holes, the tv worked fine.
My theory is the pressure pushed the tv back plate against some board components which caused them to overheat (no air flow); or put pressure on internal connectors. I dont know.
Hope this helps, may not apply to your situation.
Need to remove tv stand
There are 4 screws you need to remove to get the stand off.
There is 2 vertical screws near the ANT/CABLE port and 2 more vertical screws near the power cord.
The stand should slide out after that.
