Hi lucianidol24,
If you have necessary tools and test instruments, know safety precaution in basic troubleshooting try the steps below to solve your problem.
Assuming that the disc is good.
1.Check the ribbon - Check the ribbon connected to the lens from the main board for scratch, damage. Once it has an open line then of course the lens can't read the disc. Also try to erase the contact by pencil eraser.
2.Check the spindle motor - Check the motor that spin the disc with an ohmmeter. You can test it using the ohmmeter (x1) even it is connected on the lens assembly(you must disconnect the ribbon from the lens).Good motor - reading should be fairly high and it will spin. Bad motor- reading will drop to low resistance and will not spin.
Hint : 50% of my repaired unit the above parts are commonly caused of the problem.
If you confirmed that you have a defective motor then replace it with a new one. Before replacing the new motor you have to check the clearance of the disc holder with the old one. The clearance should be the same as the old because if not the lens will not read the disc if it is too far or too close.
If the above steps didn't cure the problem, high chance that your optical lens was faulty.
If you can
Let verify first to narrow down to where the problem can be. First, make sure the MUTE or SAP function is not activated, then check the on screen sound set up menu to make sure the speakers are not set to OFF. If the setting is OK, then attach the powered PC speakers to the Audio Line out RCA jacks (Red and White) to see if you can get the sound there, if you do, then the problem can be in the power amp circuits, if you do not get the sound at RCA jacks, then the problem can be in the sound processor circuit. The UF4-200C is already programmed to control Motorola (formerly) General Instrument DCT1000,
DCT1200, and DCT2000 cable boxes. To control another device, look for the list of manufacturers'
three-digit codes for the device type in the Television Codes, VCR Codes sections, or Cable and Aux
Codes sections, then perform the following steps.
On the remote control, press and hold the appropriate mode key until the four mode
keys flash twice. The mode key will continue to flash.
Enter the three-digit code.
After you press the first digit, the mode key should light and stay on. After you press
the last digit, the mode key should flash three times and turn off.
If the mode key does not flash three times before turning off, the code is invalid for
this device type. Repeat the procedure with another device code.
Point the remote at the device and press POWER. If the device turns on or off, you
have finished programming.
If you have tried all the codes listed for the manufacturer and the device does not
respond, refer to the CodeScan™ section later in this manual.
More details are available with its manual you get with it.
OK.
