My 19 inch Apex tv will not turn on with of without the remote Should I just throw it away or is there something I can do to fix it?
First, I would suggest listing it on Craigslist or your local Freecycle if it's determined that you can't fix it. Generally, someone out there can at least scrap it out for parts or recyclable materials.
Now, to the original question. Was it working prior to hooking it to the VCR to begin with? Or did it stop working before you tried hooking it to the VCR?
There are multiple things that could be wrong, the worst one being that something burned out inside the power supply in the TV. Generally, if that happens, the replacement part is higher than buying a new TV, unfortunately. You could search you local yellow pages (physically or online) to find a repair shop, and call them for advice. They will often tell you whether or not something is worth fixing or not, or at least give you a price estimate, and you could decide whether it's worth it.
If it's ruined, I would definitely suggest listing it on Craigslist or Freecycle, and leave it out on the curb or in your parking lot, where whoever wants it need never meet you in person.

Apex 1919 tv model brand new and stopped working
I had the same problem. Turned out to be bad capacitor on the main power supply board. The board has a heavy red and black cable at one end and several grey wires at the opposite end. Near the grey cables there are three blue cylinders (two large and one small) surrounded by a black metal frame heat sink. One of the two larger ones was "pregnant" swollen and about to burst. I changed it and the other one like it will new ones from Radio Shack P/N 272-1032 1000 uf 35 WVDC. The unit powered up and worked fine again.
Find a friend who is handy with a soldering iron - parts cost about $3. Be sure to unplug and discharge everything before diving in.
Not a bad little TV/Monitor otherwise.

Apex ld1919 power light just blinks instead of
Tries tv unplug,replug it back like about an hour later,for the tv to do a whole resetting itself back to the tv factory setting.The tv now should be working again.If the tv dosen't and the tv still having the same problems.Mean ur tv power supply board it is the causes and the problems.That the board where the tv power a/c cord plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole new refurbish tv power supply board for the replacement.
I replaced the capacitors today, and have the white screen also..
I had the same problem. Had two of these TV's which needed the capacitors replaced. After verifying it wasn't my work on the power board with teh capacitors (it worked in the other TV) I checked the connections. Turns out that I had loosened the data cable ON THE BACK OF THE LCD. Peeled back the foil tape that covers the connection carefully so it would go back in place. Saw immediately where it was coming loose. Reseated the connection and pushed the foil tape back in place. When I fixed the 2nd power board and hooked it all up, no more white screen. I'm assuming that all of the jostling of the screen during repair of the power board is how it came loose. Good luck!
