hello, at this point the price of the bill is uncertian but it seems to be a one of your internal boards is going bad either way it needs service if your able to get a picture and sound after a few minutes then your set is repairable but the price depends on the actual board thats affected, these sets have power board, video audio boards and other boards that control the video signal going into the display, it would help to have a service manual and look at the individual boards to indentify the trouble, on thing you can do is search the auction site for a same type and model tv with a broken screen usually run like 150 or even less and have a tech exchange the part or parts.. hope this helps

If you have changed these boards you need to first check your Va and Vs voltages, you should see a white paper listing the proper voltages, if you have a way of checking there are TP where you should put meter and get the proper voltage and also pots that you turn to change voltage. Make sure these are there first before continuing Bill.

Just check whether the mute button on remote is jammed. Then if that is ok, check whether you can listen to the sound on a Head Phone connected to the TV. Even if it works, the TV needs attention by a qualified service technician.

Power on the unit in the dark room then shine with the flashlight directly in the screen, you will barely see the images. This is because your backlight is not functioning. The following reason is the caused.
1. Power supply - missing 24vdc coming from this board feeding the inverter board. This is caused by faulty transistor, dried/leaky electrolytic capacitor, open fusible resistor.
2. Inverter board - even the 24vdc is good from the power supply, if the fuse, driver transistor, driver transformer is faulty no output to the backlight resulting to black picture.
3. Busted backlight - even inverter board is good but if this is busted resulting to black picture also.
Diagnosing the fault is technical and if you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't fix it yourself, I would advice you to look for an experienced technician to isolate the problem.

usually this is a fault with the power supply in the tv. the capacators only hold enough charge to turn on the tv but not maintain the proper current to keep it on. contact a repair technition or the manufacturer.
