The date/time stamp only works in "Postcard" resolution. Press the "Func Set" button, then scroll down to the bottom to select postcard resolution.
Then press the menu button. Select the "Camera" menu, then scroll down to the the Date Time Stamp selection to turn it on.
Your camera has a small flash unit that can throw a bright burst of light to help illuminate dark scenes. It takes quite a bit of electrical power to put out that burst of light, and it takes several seconds to build up a sufficient charge before it can put out another burst of light.
If you need to get close, use the Super Macro scene mode. Otherwise, I'd use the Program mode so as to be able to control the depth of field. I would also use a tripod or other stable support so as to eliminate camera shake. I would also use the self-timer so the camera has a chance to quit moving after I take my finger off the shutter release button.
You'd need to have it fixed at a service center. For the Canon Powershots as you have, the place that services these models exclusively is: www.camerasandparts.com The Canon Powershots are all they work on and they do excellent work, not expensive at all to have it serviced through them. Hope that helps you with it, good luck.
Take no more pics until you've recovered your photos, take the card out of the camera. This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" photos. There are many good freeware photo recovery software options that may help you recover your photos. This article reviews and outlines several of the better ones. If you don't own one already, you will need to purchase an inexpensive USB SDHC card reader to use with this software. Here are some examples from Amazon, or go down to your local WMart, and pick one up.And here's a video review of the software (they're all free and very good):
Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them:
Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
SD type cards have a little switch on the card that can write protect or "lock" it. Take the card out of the camera and check this switch. To unlock it, it should be moved towards the edge of the card which has the electrical contacts.
On page 16 it explains two ways to set date & Time.
1st is when you turn on the power it will ask you to set the time & date, and you can enter it.
2nd way to set time & date, or change it is to press the MENU key, and select "Set Date & Time".
I hope this helps you.
Please also giving me a good rating for offering you help, :-)

This
is a suggestion. If you do not feel comfortable trying it, you will need to take
the unit to your nearest service centre. Feel free to let me know if you
need any assistance.
The problem might be that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the
probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.
Use
these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.
Firstly ,
try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.
Try holding the
shutter button while switching on the camera.
Look at the lens ,
and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then
try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).
Try gently
pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may
cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.
Another
way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and
then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to
not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and
down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the
camera is enough to get things going again.
Try hitting your
camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of
your hand.
Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair centre for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to
replace the camera.
If it is still under warranty I would suggest
you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any
off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about
warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.
Hope
the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need
any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you
found this helpful.
Since
it does not appear when taking the picture the LCD view finder is not
the source of the problem and I suspect the image sensor.
There is no other solution to this problem apart from getting the image
sensor replaced. Not sure how much Samsung charges for the fix in your
area, so it might be a good idea to get a quote from them before you
decide whether to send it in for repair.
Could be a problem with the CCD sensor or go to bad; in both cases this isn't a job that you could solve yourself; this wrong include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines,
blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being
recorded on the camera's flash card.
I suggest check THIS LINK for additional details in this previous solutions for an Defective CCD
(Charge Coupled Device) and next contact your Samsung service. Istrongly suggest(taking intoconsiderationthe age of yourcamera) to evaluatethe cost ofrepairversusthe cost of anewcamerawith similarfeatures, before making afinaldesicion.
More easy... could be some problem with your printer heads clogged or with a necessary clean task
