Hi,
This lens and ANY Nikon lens that has AF-S (built-in lens motor) in it will work with the D3000. In addition, some of the newer Tamron, Sigma and Tokina lenses that have the motor built in will work.
Be careful though in holding the heavy lens simply by the DSLR grip. The lens mount may not be able to support the strain.
Hope this helps,
Andrew

Nikon 70-200mm Tripod Mounting Question
There should be a mount that attaches around the barrel of the lens with a flat part that would allow you to screw that to your quick release plate. The flat part usually have several screw holes so you can mount the quick release plate for or aft for better balance. These mounts are removable so it may have been taken off.
Would a nikon 70-200mm vr be a worthy upgrade on a
Definitely.
It's one of the finest mid-range zooms ever made by Nikon and is built to professional standards. The zoom range will be 105-300mm (allowing for crop factor on the D70 image sensor) so you have a medium to long telephoto range ideally suited to hockey pitch dimensions. Minimum focussing distance is just 5' (1.5m) when in AF mode and a little closer when using manual focus and the AF motor is very fast and quiet. I also love the ability to instantly override the AF just by taking manual control of the focus ring: no need to fiddle around with switches before doing so. The lens also has no less than three AF lock buttons so there's always one in easy reach whichever way you hold the camera. The maximum aperture is a very useful f2.8 which is one to two stops better than normal and is constant throughout the zoom range, it also allows a shallow depth of field so that backgrounds are thrown out of focus. Vibration reduction is built in to gain a further stop or two in the relatively low light of all indoor venues. The lens is all metal construction (except, of course, for the glass, gaskets and internal bumpers) so will stand up to the knocks of sports use and the construction is weather proofed. The lens is really sharp as well.
In my opinion it's a near-perfect bit of kit, but the only downside is the weight: Around 1.5kg or 3lb, but for what the lens offers it's a worthwhile trade off. it's also even better when you consider that the fast aperture and vibration reduction mean that you can leave the flashgun at home.
I've only ever borrowed one before and I didn't want to give it back...

Hi,
Go to
www.nikon.co.uk and go to the Customer Service tab and then Downloads and type in Sports Settings.
This will give you all the settings you should set your camera too.
A quick fix is to set your iso setting to Auto and this will adjust your exposure.
Hope that this helps
Thanks

Pictures are white after taking a shot. But when I'm in indoors it's quite normal.
Way, Way Over exposed Gracey. Read the manual for the mystery Nikon Camera and set the camera to Automatic Exposure. Film 'Speed' is measured in ASA Rating, 200 ASA would be standard for outside, 400 ASA for lower light, up to 1200 ASA for very low light like candle light. The higher the ASA Rating, the more grain you will get in an image. In the old days, we used a light meter set to the actual film speed of the roll of film in the camera and the sensor in the light meter told you what to to set the lens aperture and shutter speed to. Now with digital cameras, it is all automatic, or you can choose to go with manual exposure.FULL 'make model (what it is)' in all questions please first 3 words.GoogleNikon (model) manualRead it it LEAST 3 times and at least once with the camera in your lap. Use the camera every day for a week and read it again...
I encounter a problem r07 using my Nikon D3100 with 18-55mm kits lens or my 55-200mm lens. How can I fix this? Thank you.
On Nikon cameras this isn't normally an error code. Have you got a memory card in the camera? Check that it isn't nearly full.
r07 common comes up as an information prompt referring to the memory space in the camera. '07' being 7 shots remaining.
If the card isn't full try this. Turn the camera off. Remove the battery. Remove the memory card. Leave it like that for at least 15 minutes. Connect the memory card to a computer or a laptop and check you can still look at and move the images that are on there. This is to check the memory card isn't corrupted (developed a fault).
