Coby Kyros MID9740-8 8GB 9.7" Capacitive Multi-touch Android Tablet - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

Coby has closed their doors. One of the solutions I found was to do a hard reset which restores the tablet to out of the box condition. To do so, hold the power button & the volumn down button until the android figure appears. He'll be on his back with an open panel on his chest with a red triangle above it. Press the 'back' button and a menu appears with options of "reboot system now', 'apply update from external source', wipe data/factory reset', 'wipe data partition', and 'apply update from cache.' Scroll up & down the list using the volume up/down buttons and select the option you want using the power button.

Do not click anywhere else, especially not on the big green DOWNLOAD button. That loads you up with other software you don't really need. This should get you going. Unfortunately, Coby went out of business last summer (2013) and left a lot of people missing items they'd sent in for repair or replacement.

The MID9740 doesn't have a bluetooth module so you can't connect anything to it by bluetooth.

Turn the tablet all the way off, press and hold the VOL - and power at the same time for 8 to 9 seconds, it will show a green android guy with a system recovery menu. Use vol - to go down to Wipe Data/Factory Reset, press the power button to select it, go down to 'yes' to confirm, press the power button to select it, it will wipe the tablet, you then press the power button on 'reboot system'.

You might have to do a Factory Reset in Settings.

Sounds like you have a bad battery or your charger isn't working.

you tablet will have a users manual with it and a number for cust. support they can tell you how to get the code.

The only way is to factory reset, this will wipe anything downloaded or saved since new.

We cannot make Coby help you out. Try calling them again.

Recharge battery. If it does not recharge, replace the battery with a new one.

A really annoying issue but your password is Your and only you are supposed to know it. it cant be repaired but it should be able to be replace but i havent seen a replacement screen so u might just have to buy a new one

There are two methods of reset Coby Kyros MID8024: 1. Soft Reset 2. Hard Reset Steps for Soft Reset:

• Take out the battery.
• Reinsert the battery.
• Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.

That's soft reset. If your device doesn't load after this, try hard reset. Steps for Hard Reset:

• Switch off the device.
• Press and hold Volume Up + Home Button + Power Key.
• After 2-3 seconds, release the Power Key.
• You will enter boot screen, Select Wipe Data / Factory Reset.
• Select Yes.

This will delete all the files including apps, personal data stored in phone memory. Don't worry it doesn't wipe off the SD Card so you should make a backup of your files stored in phone memory.

try removing the battery for 30 min .

Which phone is this on? I will post results how to fix and cost of repair :)
