Got error code F9 while oven cleaning in process.

An F9 error code on a General Electric (GE) oven indicates that the oven's electronic control system has detected a problem with the automatic door lock.
The automatic door lock mechanism prevents the oven door from being opened when the oven is set for "Clean" mode.

The malfunction may be a jammed door lock mechanism, a pinched or broken wire, a faulty lock switch or a fault in the control board itself.

9 out of 10 times the lock switch has failed.

STEP # 1 - Disconnect power to the oven!!

  • Step 2 Open the oven door. Remove three screws from underneath the oven's control panel. Lift the control panel straight up to disengage the mounting pins on the top corners of the panel, then tip the panel toward you.
  • Step 3 Inspect the door lock mechanism. The mechanism is in the lower left area of the space behind the control panel. Rotate the cam on the door lock mechanism to be certain it moves without binding. Replace the mechanism if its mechanical parts do not function properly.
  • Step 4 Inspect the wires that connect the door lock mechanism to the control panel. Check for pinched or broken wires. Check for wires with frayed insulation2_bing.gif. Repair wires as needed if defects are present.
  • Step 5 Locate the six-pin connector on the door lock motor on the right end of the door lock mechanism.
  • Step 6 Rotate the cam on the door lock mechanism to the unlocked position. Test the resistance between Pin 3 and Pin 1 of the door lock connector with the ohmmeter. The resistance should be 0. Replace Lock Switch 2 of the door lock mechanism if the resistance reads other than 0.
  • Step 7 Rotate the cam on the door lock mechanism to the locked position. Test the resistance between Pin 3 and Pin 2 of the door lock connector with the ohmmeter. The resistance should be 0. Replace Lock Switch 1 of the door lock mechanism if the resistance reads other than 0.

How to clean inside glass oven door

Taking the door off the oven and lay door on a soft surface so as to prevent scratching ,taking the door apart ( Carefully ), allow for a large work space, lay out your screws, the glass you are trying to reach is an inner glass, so obviously self clean is not going to help. Good luck!

Getting Flashing FC oven locked code. Oven won't work Dooor opens and closes easily

If your oven has the control panel in the door, try this... Open the top door and in the bottom right you'll find a flat cable that goes from the top door into the unit. It'll be just at the hinge. Pull up on that cable and push it up into the top door. It will likely move just a little. Whilst holding that cable up into the top door look at the control panel and see if it begins behaving normally. GE had a design problem with the connector on that ribbon cable that is inside the door with the control panel. There is no lock on the connector to hold the cable into the plug. It comes loose (just a little) and can give "probe light" error, "overtemp error" (on a cool oven), and any and all sorts of other unusual errors. The plug will even appear to be connected properly when only one or two terminals of the cable aren't making good contact. It is poor design for a sliding card / cable configuration. The fix is to come up with a way of holding the cable into the plug. Since one or more connectors in the cable lose connection, some of the controls will be OK and others won't. If you can "fix" the problem by wiggling that cable then you can have a repairman come out and rig something to hold the cable into the plug. I took my double oven apart and used duct tape and it lasted a year. I used velcro and it seemed to work better. If it fails again I'm going to cut a couple of cable ties and glue them to the cable and plug to create a semi-permanent connection. good luck

Check the switch that power it on. Probably stuck in "on" position.

    Oven error code 133 3af3

I had this error after a maintenance man move the oven to install new cabinets. It was difficult to see but one of the power wires has slipped out of the terminal attached to the oven. After attaching and re-crimping the terminal to the power wire the oven functioned normaly. I suggest anyone with this error code check the integrity of all three power wires.

Can I get a repair manual for a 1977 GE P7 double oven

With it being as old as you are saying, about the only place you might have luck finding parts would be to check online at some used parts places. I tried checking Sears website but from what they were showing, you have not provided the full model number and I could not find out for sure if there were any manuals or if some of the parts were still available. Usually, after a unit has reached 25 to 30 years in age, if not sooner, parts are not readily available anymore. Sorry I could not help you better!

    Re.probe and bake

I had the same problem and pulled off the contorl panel and removed the ribbion looking thing. You might have to do this a few times and wiggle it a little. It took me about 4 trys to get it to stop. also you can lock the control panel and the beeping will stop...this was my temp fix until I figured out how to get the control panel off and what to do.
