I have a GE Profile

The bad taste in the water rarely comes from the refrigerator itself and 99% of the time comes from the water supply. If I had to guess, I would say that there is some kind of flexible line hooking your fridge up to the house. Either braided stainless steel or an opaque whitish rubber line and that will be the culprit. (attached pic shows both types) They are usually used because they bend easily and are very abrasion resistant however I have found over the years that something within the rubber lining makes the water taste horrible! It does not happen right away and I have seen it occur between 8 months to several years after initial install date. If you have this type then have it replaced with copper line only with precautions to avoid damage when moving the unit in or out. Install the filter bypass and flush it for several days by letting the icemaker run normally while dumping the bucket and getting glasses of water with at least a minute or two break in between so you do not overheat the water valve. Let us know if this helps/corrects the issue attached-pliqakvp0l11djscamij510i-4-0.jpg

GE Profile PSS26PSTA SS freezer problem

Forget the warranty - it is only for the compressor and that is usually five years. Did you check for freezer temp - wet cubes indicates too warm up there. Water dispenser lines may be clogged. If low temps you may have low refrigerant or a defrost mechanism not working - if not working there should be ice buildup on line entering the evaporator in back of compartment.

Ice door flap will not close

I had a similar problem once. i opened the door and used a hair dryer blowing into the dispensing area of the door. There was a ice build up that was not visible with a quick look. It takes a while so be patient when thawing and be sure not to use too high of setting so you dont deform any of the plastic parts.

Ice Maker Won't Stop Making Ice

There is an adjustment for the "harvest" bar (The bar you lifted up). That bar you are lifting up tells the ice-maker that the cubes have fallen into the ice storage and starts the ice-making cycle over. It is also the Limit switch for the ice level in the storage container ... if it stays up for preset time determined by the manufacturer it stops making ice... most all ice-machines use the same devices. they vary little in design. Sometimes you can just gently bend the bar down to the point where it turns-off the machine at the level you want ... unless you can get to the adjustment hinge you can adust it there. For the fact it goes off when you lift it all the way up tells me the harvest switch is turning the ice-maker off.

I have a GE Profile Side by side that is working

The ice maker is basically frozen. There are two fixes for this condition. If you can transfer all of the food out to another appliance you can unplug and open the doors and let it completely defrost on its own.

the other method is to use a blow dryer. When you have completely defrosted the ice maker and thoroughly dryed it spray the ice cube tray with pam cooking spray which will act as a lubricant. When you are ready to make ice again expect the ice maker to take about 24 hours before the first batch of ice cubes are ejected.
