Canon PowerShot A1100 IS Digital Camera - Page 5 Questions & Answers
I received a Canon PowerShot
In my experience you'd better choose high capacity Li-ion AA batteries, and high capacity rechargeable batteries will be much better.
When i turn on the camera, it says that the card
Remove the card from the camera and Slide the switch on the left side of the SD card. In most cases, the bottom position is lock position. So slide it upwards. Hope this will solve your problem. Best of luck.
The Camera Window, which used
This is an issue with AutoRun/AutoPlay. Microsoft has turned off the feature for some devices with external storage due to media loaded with malware of various types.
Click on Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > AutoPlay. See if your camera is listed in the devices section. If it is, then set the AutoPlay to open the Camera Window. Otherwise, you will need to continue opening the window manually.
I wish that I had better news.

Lens error, restart camera
Hello
Unfortunately
a "lens error" is not something that you will be able to fix. This error requires the
camera to be sent in for servicing and repair.
You may find it more cost effective to purchase a new camera as opposed to the repair price on your current camera.
I cann't figure out how
The best way to delete all photos from the card is to format it. This prepares it for further use. FixYa is full of people asking how to salvage pictures from cards that haven't been formatted regularly.
You can download the manual from the manufacturer's web site at
www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/digital_cameras/powershot_a_series/powershot_a1100_is
I dropped my cannon powershot
It sounds like you dropped it on the lense, and the little motor inside that moves it broke. If you still have a warrenty on the camera, exchange it at the place you got it or send it to the manufacturer.
I dropped my camera on
Sorry, I'm afraid that I also think it's a lost cause. Usually repairing a water-damaged camera is more expensive than buying a new one.
I am not able to get my lens back in. What can I
Hi, you can try tapping the side of the lens with a pencil or your index finger.. gently. But
there really isn't anything you can do. You will need to have the lens serviced. If you are
familiar with electronics you can disassemble the unit and remove the lens and examine the
gears (get a copy of the service manual). Otherwise I would suggest you to get your unit
serviced.
Some would probably tell you to give your camera a good jolt on one side, but that
usually only helps temporarily and is not a permanent fix and could even cause other
problems. so do at your own risk.
Camera was dropped and now getting lens error.
Hello
The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the
probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.
Use
these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.
Firstly ,
try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.
Try holding the
shutter button while switching on the camera.
Look at the lens ,
and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then
try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).
Try gently
pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may
cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.
Another
way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and
then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to
not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and
down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the
camera is enough to get things going again.
Try hitting your
camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of
your hand.
Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair centre for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to
replace the camera.
If it is still under warranty I would suggest
you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any
off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about
warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope
the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need
any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you
found this helpful.

The first issue with my
this is a physical damage caused by a something being caught between the lens and the main body ...but I would not advice you to open it ..cause you may do more damage than good..try to see if there is anything in the way and visible ..and if after several attempting to open and close the lens ..will not release themselves..than you should take it to a repair shop ..cause there isn't anything you can do .. unless open it ..and rearrange the lens in the initial position ..and put it back after cleaning ..
My canon power shot A3100 IS camera when connected
hi there you need to upgrade the firmware of the camera. Other wise you can do one this. Just remove the memory card from the camera and connect it in memory card reader. Then connect the card reader with PC for transferring the image.

I have misplaced my book
I suggest that you download the free Picasa software from Google and use that to retrieve and manage your photos.
Picasa is a free download from Google and has many cutting-edge features for picture management. I think that you'll like it.
- Download Picasa from their web site (click here) to your Desktop
- Once the Picasa file has completed downloading, Open the file and follow the directions displayed.
- Once you have Picasa installed, connect your Olympus camera. Picasa will recognize that you have connected the camera and ask you how you want to proceed.
- Have Picasa copy the images from your camera
- You can then use Picasa to handle the photos from your camera.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for using FixYa and Happy New Year!
False battery low warning on
Are you using Ni-MH batteries, this problem are so common on canon A series cameras, the cameras' judge setting of low voltage is too high, you'd batter you lithium batteries.
