I don't know the correct answer?

Amazon Kindle 1 | Answered on Jul 12, 2014

When mine was lost and I bought a new one I had to call customer service to get things straight. When you get that settled log onto www.bookbub.com They can send you a short list, by email, of books you might like. Just fill in info about what kind of books you like. Some o them are free and some low price. I've found hundreds...One day I might get to read some of them. LOL

Well, if it's a Kindle 1 it was sold in 2007(?) and is now an eReading antique.

There are some video's on Youtube showing how to replace the battery, but it may be more cost effective to buy a new BASIC ereader for about GBP60.

Amazon Kindle 1 | Answered on Jan 21, 2014

the battery is most probably undercharged or dead, before you buy a new one, make sure that it is the battery by testing with another one in a store.

If the kindle won't turn on because it was recently dropped or water was spilled on it or something, you should consult your warranty. If this is due to no external event/damage you should call amazon and see whether or not there's an update in software or a bug of sorts. If it's on their behalf you'll get a replacement device. Good luck!

My son had the same problem, the part where you insert the charger must have been realigned and you will need a new one. Or best buy might be Ble to fix it. First make sure its not the charger itself.

I had the exact same problem, called Amazon, and they are sending me a new one immediately. it should be here tomorrow. And I have heard complaints about their customer service- NONE here. :)

Dear Eva,

The easiest way is to enter in the 'Menu' and select 'Go to Kindle Store' and buy them directly from there - they wil be sent wirelessly to your device.

If you managed to get books in files, with the extension .MOBI, .PRC, .AZW or .TXT, you can connect your Kindle to your PC via its USB cable and copy them to the 'Documents' folder of your Kindle

Hope you may find this information helpful!

Dear Margaret,

To remove them, first log into your Amazon account. Then click on the cart to view the list of items you shopped for earlier.
In the list of items of your shopping cart, in the left side of the display, you will see a picture of the item you selected with some data about it by its side. Just at the bottom of this data, there is a link in blue named 'Delete'. Click on it and your item will be removed from your shopping cart.

Hope you may find this information helpful!

Dear Sarah,

If your Kindle presents some horizontal or vertical lines in part of the screen, or even in full screen, and if the image is kind of "vaporous", not bright, it might have happened that you have a broken display (maybe due to pressure exerted on it, by something inside your bag, backpack or wherever you carry your Kindle). Please check this link to see if your problem is similar to those shown in the images:

https://www.google.com.br/search?q=broken+kindle+display+image&client=opera&hs=72G&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=hsZ5Upr2PMrqkAez1YHwCw&ved=0CCgQsAQ&biw=1280&bih=730

If that is the case, you can buy a new display from Ali Express and replace it following the disassembling instructions shown at

https://www.google.com.br/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CDAQtwIwAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dzf1q3eGZzmc&ei=CzJ8UsuUO7DjsASPzoDwBw&usg=AFQjCNHsa6SgajsrlCrTZSilCoSG3HBsNg&bvm=bv.56146854,d.cWc

The display can be bought at:

Dear Stephen,

These are the steps used in order to reset your Kindle (taken directly from instructions from Amazon):

"Follow these steps to restart your device. These steps will not remove content from your device.
1. Press or slide and hold the power button for 20 seconds.
2. After 6 to 8 seconds, the screen will go blank. This is normal. Continue to hold the bower button.
3. After another 20 seconds, release the power button. The charge indicator light will turn on after a few moments. For Kindle Fire, press the power button again.
4. Your Kindle will successfully restart.

You can find these steps, with a timer, here:https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=kindle_help_forum_faq?_encoding=UTF8&nodeId=200829000#restart
"
Remember that your Kindle must have some charge in order for you to be able to reset it, otherwise, connect the cable to a USB port or power charger for some twenty minutes before attempting to reset it.

Hope you may find this information helpful!

Regards,

Miguel L. Martins

Reboot your Kindle by holding down the power button for 20 seconds. This will restart your Kindle automatically.

Amazon Kindle 1 | Answered on Nov 03, 2013

Hold down the 'on' switch for 20 seconds. The Kindle will reboot - you will not lose anything on your Kindle.

If you need to reset it to factory default (which will remove ALL content) then:

  1. From Home, press the Menu button, and then select Settings.
  2. In Settings, press the Menu button again, and then select Reset to Factory Defaults. Your device will power off and power back on.

click the lock button again, and plug it up, and wait for it to respond

If the charge light won't even come on then it sounds like you have a dead battery in your kindle and need to replace it.
Call support and order a new battery.
